SERIES: YOUR FAITH
TEXT: HEBREWS 2:1
Faith pleases God. Abraham believed God and because of his faith he was justified, it was credited to him for righteousness. Without faith it is impossible for anybody to please God- Heb. 11:6. If then it was absolutely impossible for any Christian in the world to please God. Without it we should strive to build faith in our lives.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God, yet after hearing the word can be lost and bear no fruit. The word of God is treasure. We must protect it not to be lost.
How faith is destroyed:-
BEING CARNAL- CARNAL MIND IS ENMITY WITH GOD- Rom.8:7-9.
- Carnal mind is enemy with God- the carnal mind is the way of thinking that bears all reasons on what is natural. The worldly way of thinking according to what is visible and the laws of science.
- Carnal mind is not subject to the law of God. Science cannot prove the existence of God. Science does not recognise the supernatural.
- Those whose thinking is only limited to the laws of nature and science, cannot please God.
- We must have the inner eyes of faith that see beyond the natural- Rom. 12:2.
THE WORD OF GOD IN US SNATCHED BY THE ENEMY- Matt. 13:4.
- The sower went to sow. The seed is the word of God.
- Some seeds fell by the road and the birds came and devoured them. After hearing the word of God that brings faith, we allow the birds of the air to come and devour it and we loose faith. The birds are the worldly people and materials around us. The common talk in the world dilutes the word we hear and reduces it to nothing.
- 2:1- We must heed the things we have heard last we drift away. Drifting from the word of God comes in small degrees but over a long period of time the displacement is visible.
- 4:23- we must guard the heart so that godless things are not planted by the systems of the world and dilute the word of God.
FEAR AND ANXIETY
- When fear comes, fear leaves. Faith and fear are naturally exclusive- they cannot both co-exist. If God is for us, who is against us, who will be against us and succeed?- Rom. 8:31. Who will bring a charge against us, God’s elect? It is God who justifies and He is for us- Rom.8:33.
- The one in us is greater than the one in the world- 1st John 4:4.
- Out battles are fought by God- 1st17:47.
- 8:37- in all these things we are (we will be) more conquerors. The one in us is greater than the one in the world- 1st John 4:4.
CONCLUSION
- Be Ye transformed by the word of God to see things the way God sees them to have the faith of God, who calls things that are not as though they are- Rom.4:17.
