FIGHT USING THE SWORD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

SERIES: THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS.

TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:17

The sword of the Holy Spirit is the word of God. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works-2nd Timothy 3:16-17.

In scripture war in temptations, trials e.t.c we fight the enemy by the tool given by our God; the word of God. The war may be offensive, it may be defensive.

When the Lord was tempted by satan, He used the word of God, “It is written.”

The word of God is powerful; all that we see in nature was created by God’s word. God has magnified His word above His name-Psalm 138:2. When God speaks everything hears; living things and non-living things too.

The Bible was the first book ever put to the printing press in 1455 AD. Today, 7.5 billion Bibles have been printed and sold but the impact in people’s lives is little, because many do not read the Bible frequently. More about the Bible:-

THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING.

When we count living things, one of them is the word of God. It is living and active-Heb. 4:12. The Bible is not like any other book, it is inspired of God. The word of God is sharper than any double-edged sword, sharper than any sword of the enemy.
The word of God pierces to the division of the soul of the body and the spirit.
The word of God has ability to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart-your thoughts and intentions are not hidden from the word of God.
The word of God once spoken cannot return to God, it will accomplish that which God intended.

THE WORD OF GOD MAKES WISE THE SIMPLE-Psalm 19:7-11.

The simple person is the foolish person, the unwise and the mediocre. When a simple person spends time reading the word of God often, he/she gradually become very wise person. Reading the Bible renews intellect.
Some great scientists who spent time reading the Bible:-

Robert Boyle-discovered the first gas law.
Michael Faraday-discovered electromagnetic induction.
Sir Isaac Newton-discovered the law of gravity and the laws of motion.
John Dalton-his atomic theory is the basis of chemistry.
Florence Nightingale-transformed nursery.
Blaise Pascal-He devised Pascal’s triangle for binomial co-efficiency and also discovered the hydraulic press.
William Kelvin-he codified the first two laws of thermodynamics.
John Fleming-he codified the hand rules for electromagnetic induction.
Albert Einstein-he is one of the greatest scientists of modern times. A committed christian who used to sing song of God. He invented the energy law that forms the basis of nuclear energy and modern nuclear bombs.

THE WORD OF GOD IS A HAMMER-Jer. 23:29.

When demolishing strongholds of the enemy it is the word of God that shatters the strongholds of satan, it is like a hammer.
The word of God is fire-Jer. 23:29. The fire burns every chaff in a believer’s life. As no serpent can survive fire, no satan or demons can survive in the fire of the word of God.
In the spiritual when you quote the word of God, fire issues from your mouth.
Jesus our Lord will fight the anti-Christ and all the armies of the world, in Armageddon, by the word from His mouth-Rev. 19:15.

THE WORD OF GOD IS A CLEANSING OBJECT.

The word of God cleanses us of sin. The Lord told the disciples “you are clean by the word that I have spoken to you”-John 15:3.

THE WORD OF GOD DOWNLOADS YOUR INHERITANCE FROM GOD.

In Acts 20:32, the word of God says, “And now I commend to God and to the word of His grace which is able to build up and give you an inheritance among those who are sanctified.
Psalm 19:7-11 says, “The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul, the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple, the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eye; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true and righteous all together. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold, sweeter also than the honey and drippings of the honeycomb; moreover by them is your servant warned, in keeping them there is great reward.
