SERIES: THE POWER OF PRAISE AND WORSHIP
TEXT: PSALM 22:3
Sermon preached on 20th November 2022
Praises and worship is a key pillar in the Christian faith. Praises and worship bring the presence of God e.g Bible reading, prayer, fellowship etc. Praises and worship is the language of heaven. In heaven angels and the 24 elders bow down and worship and praise God saying:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory”-Isaiah 6:3
“Worthy are you O Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things and by your will they existed and were created”-Revelation 4:10
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is to come”-Revelation 4:8.
“To Him who sits on the throne and to the lamb, be blessings and glory and might for ever and ever”-Revelation 5:13.
To be relevant in heaven, you have to be a worshiper. Worshipers enjoy great fellowship with God. King David was a man full of praises and worship. What we learn about praise and worship:-
KING DAVID
- God said this about king David, “A man after my heart.” This is a great commendation from God the Almighty. What was David’s way of praise and worship?
- He played the lyre and he did it skillfully, as he praised God-1st Samuel 16:18.
- He would enter the courts of God with praises.
- On seeing the ark of God brought back to Israel he was overjoyed and rapted into vigorous dancing (and singing) to God in front of the congregation till his clothes fell off.
- About the presence of God he said, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than be out there in other feasts.” “One day in the house of God is better (for me) than a thousand days elsewhere.”

GOD’S PRESENCE AS DAVID PRAISED.
- In the presence of King Saul wherever David sang praises to God by the lyre he played, the presence of God came mightily and Saul was delivered immediately, from a tormenting spirit-1st 16:23.
