SAVED TO SERVE

SERIES: HOW TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.

TEXT: JOSHUA 24:15

After salvation you feed on the word of God repeatedly, you grow in faith and when mature in faith you start to serve our Lord Jesus to expand His kingdom. The Holy Spirit empowers you through some manifestation and you begin to want to serve in body of Jesus our Lord. When we meet Jesus, He will award medals to us according to how you served Him to expand His kingdom.

Revelation 22:12 says- “Behold I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me. To repay each one for what he has done.” Our Lord Jesus knows whether we are serving Him or not. He knows how we serve Him and our level of commitment in our service to Him. He knows how faithful we are serving Him- 1^st Cor.4:2. It is required of us to be faithful to Him as we serve.

Our service to God is supposed to be backed by holiness, for God is jealous- Joshua 24:19.

Some major ways of serving God:-

WINNING OTHERS TO JESUS- Proverbs 11:30

The word of God says that he who wins souls is wise.
Luke 15:7-10- there is great joy in Heaven when one sinner turns to Jesus Christ.
Daniel 12:3 says that God will reward soul winners generously, they will be in their own category. They will shine like stars forever and ever in heaven.
Mark 16:15- “And Jesus said to them, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Acts 1:8- “And you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be my witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.

SERVING GOD THROUGH INTERCESSION

Jesus Christ our Lord is the greatest intercessor for His church- Isaiah 53:12.
Ephesians 6:18, we are commanded to pray for the church of Jesus.
Apostle Paul was a great intercessor. Prayer fights spiritual forces that are against the growth of the church of Jesus our Lord. In Ephesians 1:15-16, he told the Ephesians that he always mentioned them before God.
Exodus 17:12, Aaron and Hur held up the hands of God’s servant Moses. When they did so, more victory was achieved. We hold the hands of God’s servant; apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers by the way of interceding/praying for them. We also fight for other believers through praying for them.
Powerful intercession is done through prayer and fasting.

SERVING GOD THROUGH GIVING

The body of Jesus Christ needs to grow. For it to grow, material giving is necessary.
Tithes: God requires you to give the first part10% of what you get to the church- Malachi 3:10.
Thanksgiving offering: When God has blessed you in some way, you need to give an offering of gratitude- Psalm 50:23.
Building altars: You need to give to God sacrificially concerned heavy matters in life- Psalm 50:5; 2^nd Kings 3:27- Abraham used to build altars and worship God.
Ordinary offering: When you offer to God, He pays back- Luke 6:38.
