SPEAK TO ONE ANOTHER

SERIES: THROUGH THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS

TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:19.

Humans are social beings and so human connections are essential. People can be lonely even in church. We live in an individualistic society in our country, a capitalistic country, more than our neighboring country Tanzania. Many people in the society are closed, private and guarded, not desiring much interaction with others. Many do not want to engage in generous conversation even in church.

In the Christian faith however, we are commanded by the Lord to embrace strong fellowship as believers, as sons and daughters of God.

Jesus our Lord spoke about relations with “ONE ANOTHER.”

  • Love one another-John 13:34.
  • Bear one another’s burden-Galatians 6:2.
  • Encourage one another-1st 5:11.

There are many “one another” commands in the New Testament church.

As an army of God, the church of Jesus works as a team; you are not going to heaven alone. Therefore fellowship with one another is of utmost importance in church. More about building of fellowship among believers.

SPEAK TO ONE ANOTHER WITH PSALMS.

  • When we address one another with God’s word, psalm, we encourage one another.
  • Most believers face discouragements in this journey of faith as they meet hardships of life, discouragements from the opposition of the world and disapproval from others.
  • The born again people in the world are few, the minority and the world does not love them.
  • Born again believers badly need encouragement frequently.
  • Psalms are the perfect inspired word of God.
  • They are written for us to recite them from time to time as we see the coming of the Lord drawing near.
  • When we speak to one another using God’s word, we build one another and make our journey of faith easier.
  • Psalms tells of the faithfulness of God, the love of God and His protection, e.g Psalm 23.

SPEAK TO ONE ANOTHER WITH SPIRITUAL SONGS.

  • The Christian religion is a religion where music is central in our worship.
  • Jesus Christ was also a singer, “after they took the last supper they sang a song”-Mark 14:22-26.
  • David, the man after God’s heart was a great musician, he would sing while playing the harp.
  • Solomon composed 1,005 songs.
  • Miriam the sister of Moses was a musician, she sang a great song to God after crossing the Red Sea-Exodus 15:21.
  • The children of Israel sang to God after crossing the Red Sea-Exodus 15:1-21.
  • When we sing we are retelling the grace, mercies and miracles of God and we build and strengthen our faith.

CONCLUSION

  • We are instructed by the word of God to build fellowship with other believers.
