SPIRITUAL BATTLE.

SERIES: THROUGH THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS

TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:10-12.

INTRODUCTION

To understand the battle of spiritual warfare we begin by acknowledging that there are two great kingdoms here on earth; the kingdom of God and the kingdom of satan. These two kingdoms are fighting for the human souls. Battles involve combat between these two groups.

When you invite Jesus Christ into your heart you have already enlisted yourself in the army and the war starts.

In warfare, battles are fought on different fronts for different reasons and with varying degrees of intensity. The same battles and warfare are real, even though we cannot physically see the attacker. The war you don’t fight you can’t win.

In the Old Testament physical wars were there almost all the time e.g the war between David and Goliath and the numerous wars between Israel and the Philistines.

Wars are of two kinds:-

Offensive war; is whereby you do attack the enemy in his kingdom.
Defensive war; whereby the enemy attacks you and you fight in defense.

At the end of a war you are either a victor or a victim, a winner or a loser.

Jesus our Lord knew this. He told His disciples “I saw satan fall like lightening from heaven, behold I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall hurt you”-Matt. 10:18-19. More about our war:-

THE NATURE OF OUR BATTLES-Eph. 6:12.

We do not war against flesh and blood. We are not in physical fight against the forces of evil. Fighting physically does not help.
2nd Cor. 10:4 says; the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
The expected discipline of the soldier of Jesus; 2nd Tim. 2:4. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 2nd Tim. 2:3, endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

SATAN’S ARMY-Eph. 6:10.

When satan fell from heaven he fell down with 1/3 of all the angels in heaven-Rev. 12:4.
Satan’s army is in regiments; some of his forces are in the air/sky other forces are on dry land assigned to every continent, counties, provinces, districts, locations, sub-locations and villages.
There is a chain of command with satan himself being the supreme authority.
There are divisions of satan’s forces in the oceans and in the seas subdivided into zones.
Unidentified flying objects (UFO’s) aliens from the outer space torture in dreams e.t.c are manifestations of demons.
Satan is worshipped indirectly in Islam, Hindu, Sikhism, Buddhists, Shindo African traditional religions, in freemasonry, illuminati, church of satan etc.
Principalities. These are demonic rulers that fall next to satan in power. Daniel talked about the prince of Persia hindering his prayers-Daniel 10:13.
Rulers of darkness. Darkness is sin. Darkness covers the earth-Isaiah 60:1-2. The systems in the world of sin are empowered by these rulers of darkness.
Powers. Work against the establishments of the christian faith.
Spiritual wickedness in high places. Wickedness in the world is enforced by this regiment.
