THE BELT OF TRUTH

SERIES: THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS

TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:14

We as believers are in a battle and the battle is intense. The enemy spares no effort to reduce our faith to nothing. He has done it to many before us. A military belt is the unsung hero of military attire.

Every soldier is a battle puts on a belt. The belt is an essential piece of equipment for any soldier. It is an integral part of their battle dress that holds their gear and equipment in place. Without a belt clothes and equipment will be falling apart at a crucial time when the soldier needs to focus on eliminating the enemy and his attention will be divided, he will lose focus.

The belt holds up trousers, shorts, skirts and is also used to carry objects such as pistols and other light weapons like ammunition and medical kits.

A soldier with a belt will move in a more tactical way than one without it.

Lacking the belt of truth makes the believer’s battle with satan difficult. Lacking the truth depletes the integrity of the christian faith and non-believers disbelieve the sanity of the christian faith. The belt of truth is what distinguishes the christian faith from all other religions.

When as a christian you tell a lie and it is found, the hearer of the lie will doubt everything you tell about the christian faith. More about the belt of truth.

WHAT THE LORD SAID ABOUT TRUTH.

  • Jesus Christ said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through me.” By declaring Himself the “truth” Jesus asserts that His words and teachings are the ultimate reality and reliable source of divine wisdom. This statement underscores the belief that truth is found in the person and teachings of Jesus. Five powerful truths about Jesus.
  1. Jesus made everything including you and me.
  2. Jesus is the only way to know God our father.
  3. We are safe when we come to Jesus.
  4. Jesus is higher than any other and His name is above all other names.
  5. We are called to tell people about Jesus and teach them about Him.
  • Jesus standing before Pilate told him “For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world-to bear witness to the truth.” Outside of Jesus Christ there is no truth, He’s the kingpin of truth.
  • John 8:32, “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” Lies put people in chains and make their walk complicated. Whether one has difficulty in injury, illness, financial hardship, troubles relationship or anything else, when one finally comes to look at the situation through what Jesus Christ said about the situation all storms in the situation are settled.

HOW TO SPEAK THE TRUTH-Colossians 3:9-10.

  • Lying is a big issue for many people including christians. Is can be tempting to lie when you think it will benefit you in some way but you must remember that sin will ultimately have a negative effect on the matter. The greatest sin of Adam and Eve that brought the fall of man was built through a lie from devil.
  • EXAGGERATION is blowing a truth out of proportion. This counted as lying. A believer must tell the truth as it is.
  • CHEATING is a deceive, to influence by fraud, to swindle. God expects a believer to be honest. Proverbs 11:1, says that “a false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.” Be just and honest in all your dealings. A believer should not do manipulation or undue influence.
  • PERJURY is bearing false witness. The 9th commandment says that “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”
  • SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE-Eph. 4:15 is telling a bitter truth with intention to restore another person, not to destroy and condemn. Jesus our Lord, speaking to the seven churches in the book of Revelation would complement each church for the positive works they have before advising them out of their negative weaknesses. Whenever you communicate a bitter truth, love dictates that you start the communication with some positives before telling the other person the way it is. This is speaking the truth in love.

CONCLUSION

  • It is battle with satan always speak the truth.
