TEXT: MATHEW 28:1-10.
When the Lord was nailed to the cross, there was darkness all over the earth from the sixth hour to the ninth hour-Matthew 27:45. The curtain in the temple split, allowing all to enter the holy place. When Caiaphas tore His clothes, it was a sign that his priesthood was finished. A new priesthood in the order of Melchizedech came. Jesus travailed in the garden of Gethsemane with “birth pains” for his church. When he was pierced with a spear on his side, blood and water came. These came during child birth. The church was born. On the ninth hour, Jesus surrendered his spirit to the Father-Luke 23:46. No one could take life out of Jesus. He gave up his spirit willingly, He breathed his last breath. To be saved one must believe that He died literally. One must also believe that He rose from the dead. Christianity is about 33% of the world population, and it is the only religion that follows a living person. All other religions follow leaders who are dead. His resurrection is the proof He is the Messiah/Christ-Matt. 12:39. More about death and resurrection.
HE DESCENDED TO LOWER PARTS OF THE EARTH-EPHESIANS 4:9
- On dying, He went to hades, the middle part, the core of the earth. He had said that He would go to the belly of the earth – Matthew 12:40.
- Sheol was divided into 2 sections, paradise, also called Abraham’s bosom where Lazarus went, and hell, where the rich man went – Luke 16:19-31.
- He went there with power and took the keys of death and hades – revelation 1:18, 19.
- He preached to the spirits in prison – 1 peter 3:19-20.
HE TOOK CAPTIVITY CAPTIVE – Ephesians 4:8
- When He breathed His last there was earthquake, rocks split, graves opened, many old saints that had died rose from the dead and appeared to many in Jerusalem, after His resurrection.
- He is the firstborn from the dead. He is the first one to rise from the dead, with a glorified body-Colossians 1:18.
- He took all of paradise to heaven. Paradise is now in heaven and hell is in the core, center of the earth. Later 24 elders in paradise are seen in heaven – Revelation 4:4.
HE RESSURECTED AND OFFERED HIS BLOOD IN HEAVEN.
- Hebrews 9:24 He entered the holy place once and offered His blood, after resurrection, before appearing to the disciples.
- John 20:7, He tells Mary not to touch Him. Touching a priest before he goes to the altar defiles him. After this He ascends to heaven, offers His blood in the heavenly altar.
- Luke 24:39. “Come and touch me”, after He has offered His blood sacrifice in heaven, He tells the disciples.
CONCLUSION
- Jesus Christ fought and won, He conquered the grave.
- His death has brought us life.
- He’s unstoppable.
- He’s stronger than 10,000 armies.
- There is no giant He cannot slay.
- He has purchased us with His own blood.
- Victory belongs to Jesus. There is no chain He cannot break.
- Crown Him with many crowns.
- May we lay all our crowns at His feet, He’s the one who is worthy.
