A NEW BEGINNING IN THE HANDS OF GOD

JEREMIAH 18:1-4

INTRODUCTION

There is no mistake the hand of God cannot correct. There is no damage the hand of God cannot repair. There is no problem the hand of God cannot solve. The hand of God upon your life will give you a New beginning. God is the potter and we are the clay. God is at work in our lives. We are all under construction.

Let us learn:-

I.  GOD IS NOT THE ORDINARY POTTER.

• God opened Jeremiah’s spiritual eyes to see how we are in the hands of a loving God.
• When the vessel God is making does not turn out as God has hoped, He crushes it into a lump of clay again and starts over.
• God gives us opportunities to start all over again, making it possible for you to experience a New beginning.
• God wanted Jeremiah to know “God is not an ordinary potter.”
• In verse 4, while the pot was in the hands of the potter it was marred, it got spoiled. If the person is not a potter:-

1. The person may not have had the patience to start all over again or to continue working with that same pot.

• Starting over requires a lot of patience,
• God as a potter is able to start over with the same marred, spoilt pot because He is no ordinary potter.
• We are clay in the hands of a patient and loving God.
• Most of us have a very low tolerance for the weaknesses of other people.
• Most of us cannot stand the faults and mistakes of others.
• God is not like us (Lamentations 3:22)
• Some of us cannot stand people who are slow, lazy, fearful and indecisive or arrogant, blunt and bossy.
• God is not quick to punish or give up on people (2Peter 3:9, Psalm 103:8)

2. The person may have thrown the pot away or discarded it.

• This is what we do with items in our homes when they are damaged, broken or rotten.
• As for God, when we are spiritually rotten, spoilt, damaged or broken- God will not throw us away (Isaiah 1:18)

II.  DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THINGS IN THE HANDS OF MAN AND THINGS IN THE HANDS OF GOD.

• What is in the hands of man can be stolen, but what is placed in the hands of God is secure (John 10:29)
• No matter how physically fit and strong a person is, there is a limit to what he can carry (Job.12:10, Psalm 95:4, Isaiah 40:12)
• The hands of God are not ordinary (Isaiah 40:28-30)
• Jabez was a man desperate for a new beginning.

1. He had gone through cycles of pain and sorrow.
2. He knew that to get a new beginning the hand of God had to be upon him (I Chro.4:9-10)

III.  HOW THE HANDS OF GOD CAN GIVE YOU A NEW BEGINNING.

1. The hand of God repairs the irreparable (Eze.37:2)

• There is power in the hand of God to repair every irreparable situation in your life (Ps.89:13, Luke 4:40, Matt.9:23-26, Luke 7:11-15)

2. The hand of God can satisfy unmet, unfulfilled desires and expectations (Psalm 37:4)

• When God opens His hands, desires are met, people are satisfied with good things.

3. The hands of God can lift you up (Psalm 40:1-3)

• God lifted up King David from the pit.
• Peter fell badly, the hand of God lifted him up (Matt.26:69-75, John 21:15-19)
• Esther was lifted up by the hand of God, from a nobody to somebody. (Esther 1)
• The hand of God will lift you up and seat you with princes-promotion is of God.

4. The hand of God can smash and shatter every enemy resisting your new beginning (Ex.15:6-7)

• God will shatter the enemy (V.6)
• Ezra 8:31, God scattered and destroyed every opposition to a new beginning.

CONCLUSION:

• There is no mistake the Lord cannot correct.
• There is no damage the Lord cannot repair.
• There is no problem the hand of God cannot solve (Isa.41:10)
• God will make a way where there seems to be no way (Isa.43:19)
• God is the potter, we are the clay- Have your way, Lord.
