BECOMING A VESSEL OF HONOR

SERIES: REVIVAL TIMES.

TEXT: 2ND TIMOTHY 2:21.

God is searching for vessels that He can use for His divine agenda. He is not looking for perfect people but for those who are willing to be purified, set apart and surrendered to His will.

“If a man therefore purge himself from those, he shall be a vessel unto honor sanctified and meet for the master’s use and prepared unto every good work”-(2nd Tim. 2:21).

God desires to use men and women who are set apart for His purpose.

Apostle Paul speaks about the need to purge oneself to become a vessel of honor -one that is sanctified, prepared and useful in the hands of the master.

A vessel of honor is not just any Christian but one who is refined, pure and dedicated to God’s will.

Many people desire to be used by God, but not all are willing to undergo the refining process. To be useful in God’s Kingdom, we must be willing to clean ourselves, submit to His shaping and live a life of holiness.

According to -2nd Tim. 2:20. There are four kinds of vessels-used, useless, user, useful. God wants us to sanctify, purity ourselves to become useful vessels for the kingdom.

Let us learn:-

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A VESSEL OF HONOR?

  • A vessel of honor is someone whom God can trust and use for His divine purpose.
  1. A vessel set apart for God’s use. It is not just about being available but being prepared and consecrated for His work-(Romans 12:1).
  2. A vessel that carries God’s presence – just as the Ark of the covenant carried God’s glory, a vessel of honor is filled with His Spirit –(2nd Cor. 4:7)
  3. A vessel of purity and Righteousness – Holiness is the mark of an honorable vessel-(1st Peter 1:15-16).
  4. A vessel of obedience and humility- God only uses those who are yielded to His will-(James 4:6-7).
  5. Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ she was a chosen vessel because of her purity, humility and submission to God’s will-(Luke 1:38).

CHARACTERISTICS OF A VESSEL OF HONOR.

  • A vessel of honor is distinguished by certain spiritual qualities.
  1. Sanctification and purity – A vessel of honor purges itself from sin and ungodliness-(Heb. 12:14).
  2. Faithfulness in little things Those who are faithful in small matters are entrusted with greater assignments-(Luke 16:10).
  3. Filled with the Holy SpiritA vessel of honor depends on the Holy Spirit’s power and guidance-(Acts 1:8).
  4. Endurance through trials –God refines His vessels through challenges and tests-(James 1:2-4).
  5. Joseph in Egypt – Joseph remained faithful to God despite trials and became a vessel of honor in Pharaoh’s palace-(Gen. 41:38-41).

HOW TO BECOME A VESSEL OF HONOR.

  • Becoming a vessel of honor requires intentional spiritual discipline and devotion.
  1. Purge yourself from sin and worldliness–let go of everything that contaminates your spirit-(2nd Cor. 7:1).
  2. Live a life of holiness and integrity–Holiness makes a believer useful to God- Isa. 52:11.
  3. Develop a deep relationship with God–spending time in God’s presence transforms a person into a vessel of honor–John 15:4-5.
  4. Commit to serving God whole heartedly-A vessel of honor is one who serves God with sincerity and excellence-(Colossians 3:23-24).
  5. Daniel in Babylon – Daniel remained undefiled and was highly honored by God-(Daniel 1:8, 6:3).

CONCLUSION

  • God is searching for vessels, vessels that He can use for His divine agenda. He is not looking for perfect people but for those who are willing to be purified, set apart and surrendered to His will.
  • Will you be a vessel of honor in God’s hands? Are you willing to purge yourself, live a life of holiness and yield completely to Him?
  • If so prepare yourself and God will fill and use you for His glory.
