DESTROYING THE YOKE OF DELAY

SERIES: MY GOD IS MY DELIVERER

TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 2:1-3, MATT 25:1-12

Destiny is a function of time. This is why destiny is devils target.

Satan does not attack your past; he troubles you because of your future eg. baby Moses, baby Jesus, Joseph Josiah etc.

When Satan see that he cannot derail your destiny -he delays you.

When Satan manages to delay you long enough, you are destroyed!!

I.  IT WILL BE TOO LATE FOR YOU (The Five Foolish Virgins) Matt. 25:1-12

• They delayed the purchase of their oil
• They bought what they needed, but at the wrong time.
• They delayed and the bridegroom come in their absence, the door was shut.
• The door of destiny is close-able.

Remember

• The five foolish virgins were virgins
• They had earnestly waited for the bridegroom
• They had their lamps and uniforms
• They had their cutex, lipstick, hairdressing, stockings and gloves.
• They had money to buy their oil – they had financial capacity.
• But they delayed – they were too late.
• They procrastinated too long
• Destructive is delay – delay is destructive be warned
• Lot tried to delay in Sodom – Angels took hold of him and his family.
• He lingered at imminent danger, angels had to force him out (Gen. 19:15-16)
• The angels of God are here today to set you free, let not delay hold you captive.
• Progress is the plan of God, delay is the strategy of Satan.

II.  DEUTERONOMY 2:1-3

• We have wondered too long
• We have wasted too much time
• Stop talking – move, stop sleeping in sin
• Stop chasing your shadow
  • Start with Jesus now
  • Start that business now
  • Start that school now
  • Start that training now
  • Marry that girl or boy now
  • Build that house now
• Today is the day of salvation – Now is the acceptable time for your progress in God.

III.  CAUSES OF DELAY

1. Indecision – (Songs 5:2-6) he missed his lover

• People do not enter their rest because of unbelief.

2. Wrong use of tongue (Numbers 14:27-33)

• They murmured
• They said they will die in the wilderness and they died.
• It was 40yrs of delay and death.
• What are you saying with your mouth?

3. Closed doors and gates (Joshua 6:1-2)

• Enemies can close – only Jesus can bring the walls down.

4. Curses – if you operate under a curse you struggle until you are set free

• Only Christ can destroy curses (John 8:34-36)

5. Fear of failure – fear to backslide, divorce etc

IV.  HOW TO ESCAPE

• Sin will delay you – hiding in sin
• Divine intervention – Pharaoh must let the people go (Exodus 3)
• Pharaoh must let you go, today.
