DIVINE TOUCH-THE FINGER OF GOD

SERIES: DIVINE TOUCH

TEXT: MARK 5:25-34

Divine touch is a heavenly touch. It is a touch of power and a transforming touch. It is a touch that produces change and it is different from an ordinary touch of a friend, a spouse or a college. A touch could be by laying of hands or through spoken words, deeds or actions. In these series of messages we shall examine some distinct divine touches that were revealed in the Bible.

JACOB WAS TOUCHED BY GOD-Gen. 32:24-26.

  • Jacob was coming back from a foreign country where he had gone to live after a strained relationship with his brother Esau.
  • His brother Esau was determined to revenge and so he went with 400 men to meet Jacob.
  • While Jacob was waiting for Esau, a man began to wrestle with him. This man that wrested with Jacob was an angel of God (JESUS CHRIST).
  • At daybreak when Jacob prevailed, the angel of the Lord touched his hip and gave him a new name.
  • This touch of God on Jacob settled the problem between Jacob and his brother Esau.
  • Esau, instead of destroying him welcomes him with open arms.
  • In Exodus when God decided to deliver the children of Israel from the hard bondage of pharaoh he does so by many miracles, wonders and signs. The Egyptian magicians confessed, “This is the finger of God”-Exodus 8:19.
  • It does not matter what you are going through in your life today, the hard bondage you are seeing you are going to come out victoriously.
  • In Isaiah 14:3-5 “It shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon and say how the oppressor has seized the golden city seized. The Lord had broken the stuff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers.”

THE TOUCH OF GOD UPON ELIJAH-1st Kings 19:5.

  • Here the Bible talks about the touch of God on Elijah.
  • Elijah was very discouraged, depressed, he wished he was dead, he felt it was over and while resting under a juniper tree, he received a touch from heaven.
  • This touch of God raised him up and what a great ministry followed after that divine touch.
  • Any area your ministry that is dead will come alive with the touch from heaven in Jesus name.

THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD-Mark 5:25-34.

  • A certain woman had a flow of blood for 12 years.
  • She had suffered many things from many physicians.
  • She had spent all she had and was not getting better-rather she was getting worse and worse.
  • Imagine the kind of hopelessness and desperation.
  • Maybe you are here and you are in a hopeless and desperate situation.
  • The divine touch of the Almighty God is what is needed in hopeless and desperate situations.
  • God is never late, we live in the natural, but God lives in the supernatural. He is overall in matters of time.
  • It does not matter how long you have been in this situation.
  • God’s divine appointment is divine appointment with destiny.
  • In Mark 1:40-41 The Bible says, “Now the leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him “If you are willing you can make me clean.”
  • Jesus Christ moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him and said to him “I am willing, be cleansed” and it was recorded that instantly the man was cleansed.
  • Whatever the leprosy you are experiencing today, either physical or spiritual, a touch from heaven will cleanse you today in Jesus name.

THE BLINDMAN THAT CAME TO JESUS-Mark 10:46.

  • This man came to Jesus requesting that he might receive his sight.
  • Jesus Christ the great physician, touched him and immediately the blind man received his sight.
  • A divine touch is when Jesus Christ touches you with His healing hands.
  • In the same order may the Lord touch everyone who is sick here today.
  • In Luke 7, there was a widow in a city called Nain. She had only one son and this single son died.
  • This desperate woman, widow was sorrowful to the bones.
  • As they were going to bury the young man, they met the Lord. May you meet with the Lord today.
  • May your dead hope be restored in Jesus name.
  • As she met the Lord, her dead hope was restored-Jesus Christ touched the coffin and it was a divine touch.
  • When Jesus Christ touches dead things, they come back to life.
  • The divine touch for Jacob was reconciliation. For the Israelites it was deliverance, for blind man it was recovery of sight, for the dead son it was a touch of resurrection.
  • Jesus Christ is the Savior and Lord, Jesus is the great physician and the healer.
  • If you will believe and trust the Lord today, if you are sick, He will heal you.
  • Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
  • The divine touch saves the sinner, the divine touch heals the sick, the divine touch sanctifies the believer, the divine touch strengthens the weak and the divine touch restores the backsliden, the weary and the burnt out ones.

CONCLUSION

Divine touch could be classified into 3 groups.

  1. A transformation touch that changes life for the unrepentant sinner.
  2. The triumphant touch that pulls you over, makes you more than a conqueror and gives you the spirit of a conqueror in your life.
  3. The transcending touch that goes beyond the natural. This is the touch that takes you beyond your natural power, natural strengths, natural skills and natural ability.
  • When the Lord has touched you, you will never be the same.
