EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE ALRIGHT!

ECCLESIASTES 8:12

INTRODUCTION

In 1987 there was a railway accident at a place called “Ngai Ndethya” God help me in Mtito Andei area. Many people died. The driver of the train is said to have been smoking bhangi and drinking. He did not pay attention to a very rainy night. He later served 7years in prison. In an accident near Nakuru 27people died, the drunk driver survived the accident. He served 5yrs in prison and is now free. Those were bad accidents and in each case, it seems like those who were most innocent suffered the greatest trial. Life is like that sometimes! There are times when it seems that trouble comes to those who ought to enjoy the fullest of life’s blessings. Even in Ethiopia’s Air crash this week you hear stories of people who ought not to have died yet. In this passage of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher is dealing with a problem that we all deal with from time to time we all struggle with questions of injustices in our courtrooms, unrighteousness in our churches. Maybe this morning you are dealing with issues, let me show you from the word of God that everything is gonna be alright. Let us see:-

I.  THE PROBLEM THAT BOTHERS US.

1. 12 reminds us of the age-old question that has plagued the heart of man since creation “why do the righteous suffer while the wicked prosper?” V.14 lays clearly the problem experienced by the preacher. The question addressed many times in the Bible.
2. It is the focus of the book of job. Job’s friends Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar concluded that the righteous do not suffer. Therefore Jobs trials were, in reality, the result of Job’s sins! Many people still have that opinion even today.
3. It is the focus of Psalms 73. Asaph was in the point of giving up as he witnessed the prosperity of the wicked and the trials of the righteous.
4. Psalm 37 and 49 deals with the same problem.
5. Others have the idea that serving God brings immunity from trials. This has caused suffering to many saints. This has also brought a lot of disillusion with others quitting serving the Lord.

• Serving the Lord has many benefits- salvation, Forgiveness, Eternal Security, a home in glory, the presence of God, the promises of God, God’s provision etc. however these blessings are spiritual with most of our trails happen in the physical realm.

1. If we are not careful when the trails of life come we might conclude as the preacher did. (1:2, 2:23)
2. Look at Jesus perspective (John 16:33)

• According to our Lord, as we move through life we can expect that there would be pressure (Job 14:1)

II.  THE PROMISE THAT BLESSES US

1. Even though the wicked seem to prosper and the righteous seem to carry unjust burdens, things will eventually work out to them that love God.

• Our trials have the ability to be turned into triumphs. (a poor debted man who was hit with a bag of money)

1. Every thing is gonna to be alright (Romans 8:28, 2Cor 4:17, Jer 29:11)
2. Areas in which Satan likes to tell us that we are wasting our time, that all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
3. The area of our trials.

• When the burdens of life begin to pile up on us there is a tendency to want to throw in the towel.
• “Everything is gonna be alright for you”

2. Area of our salvation

• Satan will tell you that you are not saved and that you are wasting time trying to call yourself a Christian.
• Everything is gonna be alright, see the promises of God (John.10:28, Heb 7:25, Rom.8:1, John 6:32)
• If you are a child of God, then everything is gonna be alright.

3. The area of the Church.

• We live at a time when even the saved are turning away from the church.
• Satan will lie to us that the church is in trouble and that the church is going down.
• But remember the word of Jesus Christ (Matt.16:18)
• God will take care of His church even when the church goes through the valley.

4. The area of the future.

• What will happen in the future? (Heb. 13:5)

5. Just remember that in every area of life, everything is gonna be alright.

CONCLUSION

• Sorrow and worry can lead us into one of four lands;

1. The barren land in which we try to escape from it,
2. The broken land in which we try to sink under it,
3. The bitter land in which we resent it,
4. The bitter land in which we bear it and become a blessing to others
