EVIL DIVERSIONS

SERIES: JONAH

TEXT: JONAH 1:1-17

The name Jonah means a “dove.” Nineveh was located on the east bank of Tigris River more than 500miles (800km) from Palestine. Sennacherib made it the capital of Assyrian in 700BC. The wickedness of Assyria included idolatrous worship, sexual immorality and extreme cruelty to prisoners of war (P.O.W). Tarshish located in the south of Spain near the Gibraltar, 2000 miles (3,200km) west of Palestine. No one can escape from the presence of the Lord- God- Psalm 139:7-12. For Jonah it was an evil diversion from the will and plan of God. I sense a lot of evil diversion in many families, church and country in these days.

Life is like a journey in three parts. There is the beginning, the course of the journey and the end. God has a divine purpose for us as individuals and as a church. God is our El-shaddai, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shammah, Jehovah Shalom, provider, shelter and Rock. One of the most terrible and effective ways of amputating a person’s life and destroying potentials is what is known as satanic diversion. Let us consider:- 

1. WHAT IS DIVERSION?

• A diversion is turning aside from a course that is to be followed.
• A diversion is a change of direction or an alternative route.
• A diversion is something designed to take away attention from the main course-It is a change of direction-Jonah 1:1-3.
• Jonah the son of Amittai had received a very clear command from God. “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city and cry against it for their wickedness is come up before me.”
• That was a clear command from God to Jonah-Vs. 3, “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord and went down to Joppa and he found a ship going to Tarshish, so he paid the fare thereof and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”
• Jonah paid his fare to go into bondage. He sponsored himself out of the will of God.
• A person can use his own money to buy a “diversion.”
• Many Kenyans are paying the fare to slavery in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, and Iraq.
• The Africans who were sold into slavery in the Middle East in the 16-18^th centuries are nowhere to be found-they died!!
• The G.M.O (Genetically Modified Organisms) is a new slavery to American and European seeds, fertilizers and pesticides from our traditional seeds.
• Kenya is paying the fare to bondage and everlasting slavery. Isaiah 19:3-12, the prophecy of Egyptians is coming true before our own eyes.
• See, how a single person who was diverted put other people in trouble.
• The traders in the sheep threw their things into the sea because a single man had been diverted-Vs. 5-6.
• Jonah went down and slept. It is possible to enjoy oneself in a diversion-Vs. 6.
• Diversions (evil) cost other people everything they have.
• The fact that someone is a prophet, pastor, elder, leader or a church member does not mean he/she cannot be diverted.

1. WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF EVIL DIVERSION?

• Major evil diversion takes place in darkness because deception is very easy in darkness.
• In darkness we easily get lost in a small town.
• The major evil diversion of human lives takes place when the enemy has succeeded in dragging them into darkness.
• Darkness is an easy place for evil work, when you run away from church fellowship for any length of time, you enter into darkness.
• When you walk in the light of God you cannot be diverted.
• Many are on the wrong road now because when they were in darkness, the enemies who saw the goal of their lives, diverted their journey into the wrong road through satanic intelligence.
• You can be diverted even before you are born!!
• CLASSES AND CATEGORIES OF EVIL DIVERSIONS.

1. Conscious evil diversion.
2. Unconscious evil diversion.
3. Inherited evil diversion.
4. Transferred evil diversion.
5. Evil diversion acquired by personal decision.

• I pray that your ungodly journey diversion will be terminated today in Jesus name.

1. WHY DOES THE ENEMY WISH TO DIVERT A PERSON?
2. To take the individual far away from God.
3. To ensure that the purpose of a person’s life is not achieved. Evil diversion is an usher of failure. It ushers people into failure.
4. To open avenues for demonic pollution and domination.
5. To hold others in bondage by diverting the deliverer.

• You were born to deliver your family, brothers and sisters, your people and country. When you are diverted they remain poor.

5. To push people into hell fire.
6. To prevent other people from reaching their goal in life and from their place of divine blessing.
7. To waste lives, to use other wrongly or to not use at all.

• Sometimes evil diversions look bright and good.

1. WHAT IS A WASTED LIFE?

• A life without purpose, a life diverted from divine purpose.
• Until a person is delivered, life will have no meaning for him.
• There are many people in the world today who are very busy, dedicated, influential, responsible and even admired by many, but deep inside them they are frustrated, confused, disillusioned, depressed, aimless and unhappy.
• The value of anything depends on the purpose it was created.
• WHAT ARE THE AGENTS OF DIVERSION?
• The first powerful agent of diversion is seducing spirit. 1^st Timothy 4:1, “Now the spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”
• Seducing spirits are very rampant today because these are the last days.
• Seducing spirits overthrow people’s destinies through diversion.
• Seducing spirits work on behalf of other evil spirits to open ways for them.
• The purpose is to entice people into wrong things, tempt or lure them into sin, excite them, interest them, fascinate, arouse them for other demons to take over.

2. Disobedience: Jonah disobeyed God, despite clear instructions.

• HOW TO DEFEAT THE SPIRIT OF SEDUCTION
• Bind the strongman of seduction.
• Cast out the seducing spirit and command is not to come back.
• Pray for restoration and repair of what the spirit of seduction destroyed.
• Another spirit and agent of diversion is familiar spirits.
• Familiar spirits are responsible for passing evil traits from one person to another (generational traits).
• Familiar spirits remain in the family line and are transferred at death.
• Many people are traveling on the wrong direction, road and many are in the wrong things, wrong relationships, wrong businesses.
• Diversion (evil) will cost your life.
• Jonah entered into the wrong journey until God intervened.
• Are you traveling on the right journey? Where are you planning to go? How about your relationships?

PRAYER POINTS

• I command every dark work against my life to be cancelled, in the name of Jesus Christ.
• I refuse to accept anything from Satan, in Jesus name.
• I command every seducing spirit and familiar spirit to stop their operations in my life-In the name of Jesus.
• You the strong man troubling my family, I paralyze you in the name of Jesus.
• Every strongman in my family be exposed, in Jesus name.
• I repent of my evil diversion, I come back to you Jesus Christ, I surrender to your will, direction and purpose in JESUS name.
