GOD DEFENDS HIS CHILDREN.

SERIES: THE GOD WHO NEVER FAILS.

TEXT: ISAIAH 54:17

JEHOVAH God does not abandon His Children. He watches, He shields, speaks, He intervenes and delivers.

When you walk with God in covenant, you enjoy divine security that no enemy can breach.

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of thee Lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord”-(Isaiah 54:17)

Dear friends, life is filled with battles spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological. At times it appears that the wicked are the ones that triumph, while the righteous suffer.

But for every child of God, there is assurance that you are not alone in your fight. God does not only watch from a distance, He steps in to fight for His own.

We live in a world where evil forces constantly seek to oppose and destroy God’s children.

But the scripture is full of promises that God is our refuge, shield, fortress and defender.

• God’s protection is not passive-It is active, forceful and victorious.

Our message today is a prophetic reminder and spiritual reality:-

1. The God who defends His children never loses a battle.
2. If God be for you, who can be against you?
3. When He rises to defend you, no enemy can prevail.

Let us learn:-

GOD IS OUR DIVINE DEFENDER.

• God takes, personal responsibility for defending His children.

1. God fights for His people.
   • Exodus 14:14-“The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.”
     • He does not leave His children vulnerable to the enemy.

2. God sets boundaries the enemy cannot cross.
   • Jobs 1:10-God placed a hedge around Job.
   • Your life is surrounded by divine protection.
3. God’s Name is a strong tower.
   • Proverbs 18:10-When we run to the Lord, we are safe.
   • He is not just a passive protector but an impenetrable fortress.
4. God makes your enemies His enemies.
   • Isaiah 49:25-He contends with those who contends with you and saves your children.
   • God defended the children of Israel at the red sea, confounding the Egyptians and giving His people total victory-Exodus 14:21-30.

GOD’S DEFENCE IS COVENANT BASED.

• God defends you because you are His by covenant.

1. Covenant invokes divine obligations Psalm 105:14-15- “Touch not my anointed”
   • The covenant places divine warning upon your enemies.
2. The blood of Jesus seals our protection.
   • Revelation 12:11- We overcame by the blood and by our testimony and our selflessness.
3. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us.
   • Romans 8:26-Even when we don’t know what to pray, God’s Spirit defends us in Prayer.
4. Righteous living invites divine backing.
   • Psalm 34:7-The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him.
   • God defended Daniel in the Lions den because of Daniel’s covenant stand-Daniel 6:19-22.

GOD DEFENDS IN WAYS BEYOND HUMAN COMPREHENSION.

• God’s methods may not be logical, but they are powerful.

1. God confuses the enemy’s camp.
   • 2^nd Chronicles 20:22-God caused Israel’s enemies to destroy one another.
2. God uses the weak to shame the mighty.
   • 1^st 1:27-God uses small things to bring down strong forces.
3. God’s word is a weapon of defense.
   • Ephesians 6:17-The sword of the Spirit is the word that stops Satanic arrows.
4. God deploys angelic forces.
   • Psalm 91:11-He commands angels to guard you in all your ways.
   • When Elisha was surrounded, God opened His servant’s eyes to see heavenly chariots of fire defending them-2^nd Kings 6:15-17.

GOD DEFENDS HIS OWN TO BRING GLORY TO HIS NAME.

• When God defends you, He magnifies His own greatness.

1. Your victory testifies of God’s power.
   • Psalm 23:5-He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
2. God in defending you, wants to display His faithfulness.
   • Isaiah 41:10-He strengthens and upholds you so you don’t fall.
3. God is jealous over His children.
   • Zachariah 2:8-“He that touches you touches the apple of His eye.”
   • Divine defense is a witness to the world.
   • John 9:3-Some battles come that God may be glorified through the victory.
   • God defended Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego in the fire and the entire Kingdom acknowledged His glory-Daniel 3:24-30.

STAYING UNDER GOD’S COVERING IS KEY TO CONTINUAL DEFENSE.

• Our part is to remain under His authority and in obedience.

1. Disobedience exposes you to danger.
   • Ecclesiastes 10:8, “whose breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”
2. Humility attracts divine covering.
   • James 4:6-7, Submission to God brings defense against the devil.
3. Worship invites divine presence.
   • Psalm 22:3, God inhabits the praises of His people and where God dwells, defence is sure.
4. Prayer activates divine intervention.
   • Psalm 50:15, “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you.”
   • Hezekiah received divine defence against Sennacherib through prayer-2^nd Kings 19:14-35.

CONCLUSION

• God does not abandon His Children, He watches, shields, speaks, intervenes and delivers.
• When you walk with God in covenant, you enjoy divine security that the enemy cannot breach.
• No matter how fierce the battle or how Loud the enemy’s voice always remember–your defender is the Almighty.
• Trust in His defence and you will never be ashamed.

PRAYER.

• Father, thank you for being my ever-present defender–In Jesus Name.
• O’ Lord arise and fight every battle confronting my destiny–In Jesus Name.
• Let every tongue risen against me be silenced – In Jesus Name
• Father, I break every hedge of sin exposing me to Satanic attacks–In Jesus Name.
• Father, surround me with divine fire and angelic defence. I declare, no weapon formed against me shall prosper, my enemies will not rejoice over me in the Name of Jesus Christ.
• Lord, I receive divine covering over my family and church – in Jesus Name.
