GOD’S TELEPHONE NUMBER

JEREMIAH 33:3

INTRODUCTION

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” This a prison word. God spoke again to prophet Jeremiah when he was in prison or in a dungeon. God does not leave his people when they are in danger or in prison, rather God doubles His visits when we are in double trouble. These words are for every afflicted child of God. Prayer is a means of grace. A means of grace in the way in which God shows His love for His Children;

Sir Walter Raleigh one day asking a favour from Queen Elizabeth, she said to him “Raleigh, when will you leave begging? Sir Raleigh answered, “when your majesty leaves off giving”. Holy prayers are the wings of the soul. John wept until the book was opened, Daniel prayed until the King’s Vision was revealed to him in a night vision. This verse encourages us in three ways;

I.  TO CONTINUE IN PRAYER “ Call unto me” (Jeremiah 333)

• The Number of Satan is 666, the number of God is 333

1. Pray, though you have prayed (Jeremiah 32:14-44)
2. Pray concerning your present trouble (Jer.33:1-4)
3. Pray though you are in prison after prayer, if deliverance tarries make your prayers more important.
4. Pray, because God says pray.
5. Pray, for the Holy Spirit to prompts you to pray and he helps you in prayer (Rom.8:26-27)
6. Prayer is intercession, there are three who pray:
7. The child of God- Does not know how to pray.
8. The Holy Spirit intercedes with groans that words cannot express.

• The son of God Jesus Christ prays- He searches the heart.

7. Prayer is ultimately made to God the Father.
8. The Holy Spirit prompts us to pray and helps.
9. We need this percept because of our backwardness, forgetfulness and unbelief.

II.  TO EXPECT ANSWERS TO PRAYER “I will answer thee and show thee”

• Usually, the promise is to “hear”, but when we are in trouble the promise is “I will answer thee”
• The Lord will answer us because;

1. He has appointed prayer as a means of grace.
2. He prompts, encourages and quickens prayer.
3. His nature is such that He must hear His Children
4. God has promised to answer, He is not a liar nor can God deny Himself.
5. God has already answered many of His people’s prayer.

III.  TO EXPECT GREAT THINGS AS ANSWERS TO PRAYER.

“I will show thee great and mighty things”

1. Great in counsel: God is full of wisdom and significance.
2. Mighty in work: revealing might and mightily
3. New things to ourselves fresh, surprising. Expect the unexpected.
4. Divine things:
   • Health and cure (v.6)
   • Liberation from captivity (v.7)
   • Forgiveness of iniquity (v.8)

CONCLUSION:

• God assured Jeremiah that he had only to call to God and God would answer.
• God is ready to answer our prayers, but we must pray (Matt.7:7) Ask, seek, Knock.
• Let us make our requests known to Him in prayer.
