SAVED TO THE UTTERMOST

SERIES: JESUS CHRIST IS GRATER AND BETTER THAN ANYTHING

TEXT: HEBREWS 7:25

We live in a day of confusion concerning spiritual matters .Very few people understand the truth about God’s way of saving  the human soul.

  1. Ask an Atheist and he will say, there is no God and there is no need to be saved.
  2. Ask a moralist and he will say be a good person and do good to others and you will be saved.
  3. Ask a religionist and he will say, “do what your Church tells you, be a good person and will be saved”
  4. Ask a legalist and he will say “keep this set of rules and do as you are commanded by your pastor and you will be saved.”
  5. Ask a man called Paul and he will say “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved”
  6. Ask Jesus Christ and He will say “ye must be born again!”

This verse tell us God’s plan for salvation, it tells us how it works, and how a sinner becomes a saint. It tells us how to be saved to the uttermost.

Let us learn:-

I.  GOD’S PLAN TO SAVE. “them… that come”

  1. A costly plan (Mark 10:45)
  • Heaven’s glory came to this earth in the form of a servant
  • Jesus Christ went to a cross where He paid the ransom price in blood that sinners might be saved (Isa 53:4-6, I Peter 1:18-19)
  1. A completed plan (John 19:30)
  • This plan of salvation is devised by God and needs no revision
  • God’s plan of salvation does not need to be updated like your software, wardrobe or Chama.
  • God’s plan of salvation is complete and finished forever (Heb. 9:12)
  • God’s plan of salvation is so simple that many people stumble at it.
  • It is as simple as believing and as easy as trusting (Rom 10:9, John 6:47, I Cor. 1:18-24)
  1. A controversial plan (John 14:6)
  • It is a narrow plan, it is narrow, because the Almighty God, knows only one way for saving sinners (Acts 4:12)
  • God has no plan B, no alternative way of saving sinners
  • God does not care how good you may be, salvation is not merited by works (Eph. 2:8-9)
  • God is not impressed by your sincerity!
  • Salvation does not come to those who mean well (Luke 18) the Pharisee and the publican.
  • God does not care if you are black, white, red, yellow or brown
  • God does not care if you are Muslim, catholic Hindi Buddhist Baptist. He only knows one plan of salvation for all people. He saves them that come.

II.  GOD’S POWER TO SAVE “he is able”

  1. He has the power to call you (John 6:44)
  • He has the power to reach into the darkness of human soul
  • He has the power to show the sinner his/her need of salvation
  • Salvation is a result of God’s power drawing us to himself (Rev. 13:8) He convicts through the power of the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-11)
  • He has the power to come to the tomb of you sin and decay and cry “come forth”
  1. He has the power to cleanse you (I John 1:7)
  • When God’s plan is received, His power moves in the heart and does a cleansing work whereby every stain and blemish of sin is forever removed from your life
  • It is a brand new birth a fresh starts your yesterday with all its pain, failures, sins and shortcomings is gone forever.
  • The blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin (Rev.1:5,Psalm 103:12, Isaiah 38:17)
  • He has the power to change you (Cor,5:17)
  • You cannot enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and remain the same
  • Ask the blind man (John 9)Ask the Adulterous woman (John 8)
  • Ask the leper, the disciples, ask Mary Magdalene, ask me and the thousands and millions of those who have met Jesus Christ.

III.  GODS PROMISE TO SAVE, “TO SAVE TO THE UTTERMOST”

  1. The promise in the word –save .The word save means; to save, to keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger and destruction.
  2. He saves from the deadness of their sins (Ephesians 2:1)
  3. The wrath of God (Romans 5:9) and torments of hell.
  4. He saves from a wasted life and life of self –destruction and self-deception (proverbs 16:25)
  5. The promise in His work of intercession in heaven (John 2:2)
  6. The promise in His will (John 6: 37: 40)
  • He is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him.
  • Uttermost means completely, perfectly, utterly and forever.

CONCLUSION

  • Gods’ plan of salvation has the power to save to the outermost everyone who comes to Him through Jesus Christ.
  • WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ABOUT GODS PLANS OF SALVATION?
  • ARE YOU SAVED TO THE UTTER MOST THIS MORNING?
