STEPS TO HAVING A GREAT YEAR

MESSAGE: STEPS TO HAVING A GREAT YEAR

TEXT: PROVERBS 17:24

Having a successful 2023 is as simple as A.B.C.D.E.

A-Accept responsibility

B-Believe you can change.

C-Clarify your priorities.

D-Don’t wait to begin.

E-Effectively decree.

“An intelligent person aims at wise actions, but a fool starts off in many directions”-Prov. 17:24.

  • This coming year we are either going to do one of the two things:
  1. We can waste the year away by regretting the things we failed to do in 2022.
  2. We can also decide to make the most of this year.

So what are you planning to do with 2023? How will it be different from 2022?

There is nothing you can do to change the last year. But you can change the coming year. In 2023, God is giving each one of us a blank slate, a new page, to start over.

But the Bible says, “An intelligent person aims at wise actions, but a fool starts off in many directions”-Prov. 17:24.

“A fool starts in many directions” is that going to be you?

An intelligent, wise person has a goal, an objective, an aim, a target. Do you have any goals for 2023?

  • Are you going to walk in to 2023 singing Happy New Year, hoping it is going to be better? You got to have a plan.
  • Tonight let us look at five steps that will help you to succeed in 2023. A.B.C.D.E.

A-ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR LIFE.

  1. Don’t excuse yourself.
  • If you want a fresh start in life, stop making excuses for your failures.
  • Stop blaming other people.
  • Stop seeing yourself as the victim of circumstances.
  • Stop using “political correctness” that says “none of your problems are your fault.”
  • Stop blaming people, environment, the education, blaming your parents, brothers and sisters, the church, the pastor, the government.
  • Accept responsibility-Proverbs 28:13, “A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them he gets another chance.”
  • God is saying to us, “if we admit our mistakes and our sins and confess them, we will get another chance in life.”
  1. You are never a failure until you give up.
  • If you at first don’t succeed, welcome to the human race, you are normal. It is normal to fail.
  • Very few people succeed at the first try.
  • You only fail if you give up.
  • People who make excuses are rarely good in anything else.
  • Accept responsibility, don’t blame.

B-BELIEVE YOU CAN CHANGE.

  1. Satan wants you to doubt you can change.
  • Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
  • We all have secret fears of what people think of failure.
  1. God says “you can do all things.”
  • When God calls, He qualifies.
  • He qualified Moses, Jeremiah, Gideon.
  • 2nd 5:17, “if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creature, behold old things are passed away and behold all things are made new.”

C-CLARIFY YOUR PRIORITIES.

  1. Set Godly priories.
  • You must decide what is important.
  • Many people on the death-beds confess.
  1. I wish I had a relationship with God.
  2. I wish I spent more time with family.
  3. I wish is attended church more.
  4. I wish I spent more time with my children.

No one says-I wish I spent more time at work or building my career.

  1. An action plan.
  • Make a resolution.
  • Plan ahead.
  • Don’t be side tracked by a failure.
  • If you really plan your life well-there are people you will never meet and place you will never go, and diseases you will never contract.

D-DON’T WAIT TO BEGIN.

  1. Don’t procrastinate-Never bury your head in the sand like an ostrich.
  • In Acts 24:25, The Governor Felix said to Apostle Paul “Go your way for now, when I have a convenient time I will call you.” He never called, he died in sin.
  • Ecclesiastes 11:4, “If you wait for perfect conditions you will never get anything done.”
  1. Stepping out requires faith.
  • This new year some of you will have to launch out into new territory by faith-Zachariah 4:6.
  • Philippians 2:12-13.

E-EFFECTIVELY DECREE YOUR FUTURE-Job 22:28.

“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee, and the light shall shine upon thy way”-Prov.

Prov. 18:20-21, “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; (and) with the increase of his lips shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

  • So many times the words of death are spoken into our lives, over our lives and about over lives without any realization of the power and consequences they possess.
  • An old saying says, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
  • That is a lie. The Bible says “The power of the tongue is terrible.” It breaks destinies.
  • Recently, there were two girls fighting over a man. The two girls had never met before, they were fighting through e-mail, sms and phone calls.
  • Their words to each other were nasty. Finally the two girls met live, live!! They now fought physically. One girl was killed and the other ended up in life imprisonment.
  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
  • You talk, you either speak life or death.
  • Now since the power of the tongue is so strong, you can decree Job 22:28, “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”
  • A decree is an order, a law, a command, an authority.
  • Once a decree is done it cannot be changed until the one who made it has died.
  • When the king made a decree it was final.
  • You can decree a thing by faith in Jesus name and it happens.
  • Jesus Christ decreed a thing and it happened.

Tonight:

  • I decree deliverance will be done here.
  • I decree habits will be broken here.
  • I decree souls will be saved here.
  • I decree healings will be done here.
  • I decree broken hearts will be mended here.
  • I decree families will be put together here!
  • I decree financial breakthrough will be done here!
  • I decree jobs will be given here.
  • I decree you will never be the same again.
  • I decree the devil is defeated.
  • I decree past lifestyle are changed.
  • I decree prosperity.
  • I decree wealth.
  • I decree we shall live and not die.
  • I decree souls will be added to this church.
  • I decree joy unspeakable and full of glory.
  • I decree 2023 will be a year of no fear.
  • I decree closed doors open.
  • I decree overflow.
  • I decree worship teams established.

DECREE A THING UPON YOUR LIFE NOW. AMEN 2023
