TELL IT TO JESUS

SERIES: JESUS CHRIST IS GREATER AND BETTER THAN ANYTHING

TEXT: HEBREWS 5:1-10

Jesus is better- The better Priest. Whatever your problems or needs are “tell it to Jesus” now. Everyone needs a priest. A priest is a person who goes to God on behalf of the people. “a go between” God has chosen that no man or woman in all the world would come to Him directly, but through a priest. God has also chosen His only Son to be the great High Priest for whomever comes to Him.

I want you to think about the sins you have committed this week. Consider all areas of your life. Now, I want you to ask yourself “Could I confess them to someone here without being completely humiliated?” Have you confessed them to God? If you have not confessed them to God, then look at I John 1:9.

If you are saved or born again you never have to confess yours sins to me as a pastor or anyone else. But if you sin against someone you need to go and ask for forgiveness, but I am talking about the sins of everyday against God. It is only counselling situations you need to confess them to somebody else or others because Satan will use what he hears and runs to God to accuse you of that sin. Satan cannot do that unless you speak it or write it because Satan is not omnipresent or omniscient. He does not know what is on your mind or heart.

Now, in Hebrews 4:15-16, the Bible tells us to take our needs to our High priest, Jesus Christ. In our text today we will see that Jesus Christ fulfilled all the qualifications of a High Priest (Heb. 5:1-10). So, tell it to Jesus Christ.

Let us learn: – Tell it to Jesus.

I.  JESUS CHRIST IS YOUR SACRIFICE FOR SIN

• One of the qualifications of the priest was that he had to minister on behalf of other people by offering sacrifices for sins.
• Jesus Christ took care of that once and for all.
• This was an impossible task for the Levitical priests.
• Remember Aaron? God called Aaron to be a priest. The priest came from the tribe of “LEVI” (A Levite) but none could match up to God’s standard of holiness.
• A look at the old testament shows that some of high priests and priests in general were very corrupt.
• Others like Eli, had terrible sons who interrupted the order of the priesthood.
• Today it is the same, priest, pastors, elders and church leaders fail to meet the standard God has set out.
• In the book of Malachi, some of the priests allowed the people to bring to God, blind and lame animals.
• Only Jesus Christ fulfills and qualifies our need of salvation. Tell it to Jesus because:-

II.  JESUS CHRIST HAS COMPASSION FOR US

• The next qualification of the priest was that he had to have compassion on those who sinned out of ignorance.
• Jesus Christ died for all sin – problem solved.
• In verse 7. Refers to Jesus groaning in the garden of Gethsemane.
• Jesus Christ is so compassionate to you and me and he empathizes with you and me
• Some human priests are not compassionate, they don’t understand the needs of their people. But Jesus Christ does – He is better priest – tell it to Jesus alone.

III.  JESUS CHRIST IS GOD

• The last qualification of the priest was that he had to be called by God.
• Jesus Christ left heaven and took the form of a man so that He could pay our price. (Phil 2:6-11)
• Only Jesus Christ could do that.

CONCLUSION

• As Jesus died on the cross, He said “it is finished” the price for sin is paid
• All you have to do as a Christian is confess your sin to the Father through the Son and you are cleansed. Tell it to Jesus.
• WHO IS YOUR HIGH PRIEST? DO YOU REALLY LOVE YOU HIGH PRIEST?
