SERIES: THE ANOINTING
TEXT: JOSHUA 5:1-6:1
We all face situations that present themselves as impossibilities. When you face impossibilities you need the breakers anointing to breakthrough into your blessings. God has given promises, precious promises to us. As we enter into the spiritual realm God has promised us, we must be prepared for confrontation. There is no progress without resistance. Jericho was a fortress city. It was the symbol of the enemy’s strength and power. Jericho was made up of men and women wholly given to idol worship. The Bible say the city of Jericho stood directly opposed to Israel’s inheritance.
To really realize your inheritance in God, your Jericho must come down.
This city had great walls that spoke of its great strength. Jericho had a reputation for being indestructible. The children of Israel had begun to taste the goodness of their inheritance. They were already eating the first of their promised land.
Joshua 5:12 “and the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land, neither had the children of Israel manna anymore, but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year”
They had tasted that Lord is good. But Jericho was standing in their way. What is standing between you and your destiny?
Joshua 6:1, “Now Jericho was strictly shut up because of the children of Israel. None went out, and none came in.”
Some Christians are satisfied right there “you don’t bother me, I won’t bother you.”
Some churches are satisfied right there, we haven’t gained any, but hey we haven’t lost any.
The philosophy of containment deals with suppressing the enemy – but suppressing the enemy is not victory.
To suppress lust, anger, resentment, criticism is not victory
Victory is when the power of the Cross has destroyed that lust or anger at the root.
Let us learn:-
I. THE ANATOMY OF A BREAKTHROUGH
- Joshua 5:2-3, He circumcised again the children if Israel
- Circumcision speaks of sanctification, a separation.
- Take the word and cut yourself loose from anything of the flesh.
- Cut off every foreskin of shame, any sin that besets
- Joshua 5:13, He lifted up his eyes and looked.
- Joshua looked beyond the walls, he looked to the hills from whence cometh his help.
- Look beyond your problem, beyond the enemy
- He saw a man over against him with his sword drawn
- Joshua 5:13- Align yourself with God, the angel of the Lord said “Nay as the captain of the Lords host I am come.
- Jesus Christ appeared in a form, before His birth in Bethlehem
- Christ had always existed with the Father in eternity
- Joshua fell on his face and worshipped
- Worship is the key note of destiny.
- Worship is when “all that you are, all that you have all that you will ever be, falls before God for who He is”
- Worship creates the atmosphere for hearing God’s voice
- Worship opens the eyes and the ears of the heart to hear God’s voice.
- Act 13:2, it was when they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said “separate for me Barnabas and Paul for the work where unto I have called them”
- Worship is the atmosphere for the conception of the Miraculous
- Hannah conceived the baby Samuel after they worshipped before the Lord (I Sam 1:19-20)
- Joshua 5:15, “loose thy shoe from off your foot”
- It was to the shoulders of barefooted priests that God entrusted the ark of His presence.
- To possess our spiritual inheritance, we must become barefooted – No personal agenda, no selfish ambitions.
- You are given up to the plans and purposes and will of God, walking softly.
- Barefoot symbolizes an exchanged life, my plans for His plans, my will for His will, my desire for His desires.
- Joshua 6:2, God basically tells Joshua, now the city is yours.
- What are you facing in your life today? God is looking for barefooted, worshippers, take off shoes and start worshiping Him.
- Stop grumbling and complaining about problems in your life – just worship.
- When Job heard bad reports – Job kept himself connected to his destiny through worship (Job 1:20-21)
- Obedience is key. Victory depends on obedience
- The people were forbidden to speak.
- We must train ourselves to speak only that which edifies and glories God and minister grace (Col. 4:6)
- 12:36, Proverbs 6:2
- They had to march 7days, 7 is the number for complete obedience (Heb. 6:12, Heb. 10:36)
- Shout, Joshua 6:16 – shout for the Lord has given you the city
- Praise is faith expressing itself audibly.
- Faith has a voice, faith calls those things which are not as though they were.
- Faith hears God say it’s done, faith shouts because it believes it is done.
II. WHAT IS A BREAKTHROUGH?
- It is victory over or through a wall or anything that presents a united front of opposition against you and the will of God for your life.
- Everyone needs a breakthrough at some point in life
- God is the God of the breakthrough (I Chronicles 14:11)
III. WHO IS THE BREAKER
- The breaker is the one who goes ahead of the rest and hits the opposition first and breaks it down, so that the others can go through.
- Like the marine corps of the U.S.A army, they are the first to make a land fall, they are the breakers (Micah 2:13)
- God is on the head of the breaker
- There is a breaker anointing, for busting through anything that the enemy has tried to lift up against us.
- Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
CONCLUSION
- Today there is anointing for those who want a breakers anointing.
- This is anointing for the elites, the marine corps of God, the Special Forces. Those who want to open the way for their brothers and sisters to go through
- If that is you then the Holy Ghost wants you.
- This anointing is a breakers anointing coming on you in Jesus Name.
