THE FIRE MUST NOT GO OUT

SERIES: REVIVAL TIMES
TEXT: LEVITICUS 6:12-13

The fire of God in our lives represents our passion, zeal and zest and devotion to Him. Just as the priests were commanded to maintain the fire on the altar, we are also called to sustain the fire of the Holy Spirit in our heart.
“And the fire fire upon the altar shall be burning in it: it shall not be put out! And the priest shall burn wood on it every Morning, and lay the burnt offering in older up it: and he shall burn there on the fat of the peace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; It shall never go out “-(Leviticus 6:12-13).
In the Old Testament, God commanded that the fire on the altar must never go out. This fire represents God’s presence, holiness, and continuous fellowship with his people. It was the responsibility of the priests to ensure that the fire was kept burning day and night. This is a powerful spiritual lesson for us as believers today.
The fire of God in our lives represents our passion, zeal, and devotion to Him. Just as the priest were commanded to maintain the fire on the altar, we are also called to sustain the fire of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.
Many people in our generation of Christians start with the great zeal, but fail later they become spiritually cold due to distractions, compliancy, sin and trials of life.
A fire left unattended will eventually go out.
• We must be vigilant in our spiritual lives, ensuring that nothing quenches the fire of God with us.
• The Apostle Paul admonishes us in (Romans 12:11) “Not slothful in business: fervent in the spirit: serving the Lord.”
• To be fervent in spirit means to keep the fire of God burning within us continually.
Revival is not a one-time event it must be sustained.
• The Holy Spirit desires to fill us continually so that we remain a blaze for God.
• Every believer must take the responsibility for maintain their spiritual fire through Prayer, the word, holy living and worship.
• The purpose of this message today is to stir us, to fan the flames of God’s presence in our Lives so that our fire will never go out!!
I. THE FIRE REPRESENTS GOD’S PRESENCE.
• The fire on the altar symbolized God’s presence among his people.
• It is a sign of Divine approval.
• Initially the first fire was lit by God Himself, showing that it was holy fire (Lev. 9:24).
• An altar is the place were the divine meets the physical. It is a meeting place between God and Man, Heaven and Earth, the spiritual and the physical.
• In the Old Testament Altars were built and established as place of meeting God.
• Today, there is only one Altar, only one place you and I can meet with God that is “JESUS CHRIST.” We meet God at JESUS CHRIST!!
• It is a Symbol of the Holy Spirit.
• The fire represents the continuous work of the Holy Spirit in our lives (Acts 2: 3-4).
• The fire is a call intimacy with God.
• A burning fire means an active vibrant relationship with God (James 4:8)
• It is a mark of distinction: Those who carry the fire of God stand out in their generation (Exodus 3:2-4)
• Moses and the burning Bush shows that God revealed Himself to Moses through fire signifying His presence and call (Exodus 3:2-4)
II. FACTORS THAT QUENCH THE FIRE
The fire must be guarded against things that can extinguish it.
1. Sin and disobedience.
• Sin separates us from God and quenches His fire (Isaiah 59:1-2)
2. Spiritual laziness.
• Neglecting prayer, bible sturdy and fellowships weakness the fire (Matthew 26:41)
3. Worldliness.
• Focusing on material things rather God leads to spiritual coldness (1st John 2:15-17).
4. Lack of discipline.
• Revival must be maintained through daily commitment to God (1st Corrithians 9:27).
• The foolish virgins, they lost their fire because they did not maintain enough oil (Matthew 25:1-13).
III. HOW TO KEEP THE FIRE BURNING
• The fire must be sustained through spiritual discipline and commitment
1. Daily fellowship with God.
• Spending time alone in prayers and the word fuels our spiritual fire (Psalms 63:1-3).
2. Continual in feeling of the holy sprit
• We must seek fresh anointing regularly (Ephesians 5:18)
3. Consistent worship keeps the fire of God alive (Psalms 100:4)
• Consistent worship and thanksgiving give us approach and access to the presence of God.
• Picture entering the state house or the king’s palace -from the gates, to the courts/gardens/paved roads into the verry presence of the king or president.it is a quick approach.
4. Holiness and righteous living
• Gods fire burns in vessels that are pure and concentrated (2nd Timothy 2:21).
5. Biblical example is seen in the early church.
• They kept the fire burning through prayer, fellowship and evangelism Acts 2:42-47.
IV. THE POWER OF ABURNING FIRE.
A believer who is on fire for Gods work manifests divine power and transformation
1. Boldness in spiritual matters.
• Burning fire produces confidences in Christ (Acts 4:31)
2. Burning Fire produces Supernatural breakthroughs.
• Miracles and signs follow those who carry divine fire (Mark 16:17-18)
3. Effective Evangelism and Soul Winning.
• A person on fire for God naturally draws others to Him-John 4:29-30.
4. Victory over the enemy.
• The fire of God destroys the work of darkness (Luke 10:19)
• God answered Elijah with the fire proving his power and authority (1 Kings 18: 38-39).
V. FIRE AS A LIFESTYLE
1. A life that burns for God should be evident in daily living.
• Burning with love for God and people
• True Revival manifests in love for God and other’s (1 John 4:7).
2. Commitment to God’s work.
• Those on fire for God we passionate about kingdom Service (Romans 12:11).
3. A life of prayer and intercession.
• A burning believer prays without ceasing (1st Thess 5:17) He has boldness spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:12)
• The Apostle Paul passion for Christ never faded despite trials and persecution (Phil. 3:13-14)
CONCLUSION
• The fire of God is not optional; it is necessary for every believer. A cold Christian is effective and vulnerable to the evening’s attacks.
• God desires that we remain a blaze for Him, just as the fire in the altar in the Old Testament was never to go out.
• Spiritual dryness and Luke warmness must not be tolerated, rather, we must fan the flames of our Faith Daily.
PRAYER
• Lord, set my heart on fire for you and let passion die.
• Father, Remove every sin and distraction that quenches my spiritual fire.
• Holy Spirit fill me afresh and keep me burning for your Glory.
• Father rekindle revival in my heart, My fruit my family and My Generation.
