SERIES: WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE.
TEXT: PSALM 62:11.
Our God JEHOVAH YAHWEH is creator, sustains the universe, and cannot be compared to any other thing called god.
He alone is holy, He alone is righteous, He alone has real love, He alone is merciful and He alone is compassionate.
The love of our God to mankind is without measure; that is why He forgives us when we go astray.
Our God is also immutable. He does not change; the way He was in time of Adam and Eve is the way He is today. Because of this immutability, He can be trusted. Men don’t trust changing things. Human beings change and cannot be trusted fully, God can be trusted fully because He does not change. More about the attributes of God:-
GOD’S OMNIPOTENCE-Psalm 62:11.
- Power and authority belong to God.
- When our God YAHWEH speaks everything hears; living and non-living things.
- He calls things that are not as though they are and they become-Romans 4:17.
THE OMNISCIENCE OF GOD-Hebrews 4:13.
- Omniscience means that God is all knowing.
- Our thoughts:-even in the secrecy of our thoughts, God sees them, He reads our thoughts.
- Details of our lives-God knows them. There is nothing in your life that God does not know, even when you don’t mention it to Him.
- All creation:-God knows about all creation. Even when one sparrow falls anywhere in the world, God takes notice!! Of the 8 billion people on the earth He knows how many hairs are on each head.
- Our future thoughts-He knows the thoughts you will think tomorrow and in the future. Ezekiel 38:10, he tells a nation called Gog that “In latter days thoughts will come to you.” This event has not happened yet and God already knows the kind of thoughts these people will think!!
- If God knows our thoughts then we should purify our thoughts.
- God knows our hearts-Jeremiah 17:9-10.
THE OMNIPRESENCE OF GOD.
- Omnipresence means all-present.
- This means that God is capable of being everywhere at the same time. It means His divine presence encompasses the whole of the universe.
- Psalm 139:1-12 says, “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold O Lord you know it altogether. You hem me in behind and before, and lay your head upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed is sheol you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me and the light about me be night, even the darkness is not dark to you, the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
- One cannot hide oneself from God. Jeremiah 23:24, says, “Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? Declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? Declares the Lord.
CONCLUSION
- Its great privilege to have fellowship with such God who has all power and authority, is present everywhere in the universe and knows everything, even our thoughts.
