THE POWER OF THE SWORD OF DELIVERANCE.

TEXT: JUDGES 7:16-23.

The book of Judges is a book worthy reading. It is a book on humanity. God was put at the last position while human beings put themselves as the first position. When things, lives, families, churches and nations are organized that way, problems inevitably come. Because of this ungodly arrangement, God gave them up. The key verse in the book of judges is Judges 17:6 and 21:25- “Every man did what was right in his own eyes. Every man except Samuel and Ruth. The children of Israel left God out of their affairs and God left them out suffering and affliction came over them.  What they planted they were now reaping. The Midianites would come and spoil everything. It got so bad that they could find the Israelites their food. They would take the food from their own mouths. At the time of this episode Gideon was hiding preparing food for his family in a cave for fear of the enemy.

When Gideon was busy doing this, the angel of God stood by and said, “The Lord is with thee, thou might man of valour.” Gideon said to the angel, “Come, don’t deceive me. Which peace are you talking about? Don’t you see what I am doing here? I am hiding here because if the Midianites find me, I will be in trouble. Where are all the miracles our father recorded? The angel said, “Okay, so you are wise. Go in this your might and deliver Israel.”

That is how Gideon took the mantle of power to deliver the children of Israel from the oppression of the Midianites. Here we see two swords used.

• The sword of the Lord.
• The sword of Gideon.
• When the sword of the Lord came out, the enemies ran, cried and started to fight themselves with their own swords.
• In the same order, may your enemies cry, run and fight each other in Jesus name.
• The sword as a tool of warfare has won many battles. Through the sword of man, men has destroyed empires. The sword is also used for protection and defense. Let us learn:-

FAMOUS SWORDS IN THE BIBLE

1. Flaming sword- Gen.3:24.

• Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden and a cherubim with a flaming sword was stationed at the East of the Garden of Eden.
• This flaming sword turned every way to keep Adam and Eve from returning to the Garden of Eden.
• Let the sword of fire pursue my oppressors into the Red sea.

2. The sword of the Lord- Deut.32:39-42.

• This passage tells us that God has His own sword.
• The functions of the sword of God are:-
• To render vengeance to His enemies.
• To reward those that hate Him.
• To devour the flesh of the enemy.
• Now we have seen two swords;-
• The flaming sword in the Garden of Eden.
• The glittering sword of the Lord.
• May the sword of Jehovah render vengeance to my enemies in the Name of Jesus.

3. The sword of the captain of the Hosts of the Lord- Joshua 5:12-15.

• It is the sword of victory.
• May the Lord draw the sword of the captain of the hosts of the Lord against my adversaries in the Name of Jesus Christ.

4. The sword of the Lord- Jer.47:6-7.

• God instructs His sword. It cannot stop until the work is done.
• The sword of the Lord shall keep quiet until it has destroyed my adversaries in the name of Jesus.
• Satan only understands the language of force.

5. The sharp two-edged sword- Rev.1:16; 2:16.

• The sword of deliverance must be used in aggression both to protect you and to fight the enemy.
• This sword is used against:-

The devil whom the Bible calls a restless destroyer.

• Satan has only the limited power that God allows him.
• Only Jesus Christ has limitless power- Matt. 28:18-20.
• Satan and his demons never sleep but are out destroying- 1^st Peter 5:8.

The flesh.

• We must use the sword against the flesh, pride of life and vanity of this life.

The world.

• This world system in which we find ourselves in a place we don’t belong for our citizenship is in heaven

Principalities

• We use the swords of deliverance against our principalities and all strange spirits walking about.
• We must use the sword of deliverance against evil authorities, evil dominion and against rulers of darkness.
• Many families are under evil dominations.
• A single witch in the family could become a source of problems to every member of that family.
• You are to use the sword of deliverance against such witch.
• The sword of deliverance should be used against evil thrones.

Diseases, demons and evil names.

• We are to use the sword of deliverance against all diseases, demons and every evil name whether in this world or world to come.
• Nullify everything in the name of Jesus Christ.
• When the enemy starts his incantations, do not worry, once they finish just say, “Everything you just said now, I dissolve it in the name of Jesus Christ.”

The spirit of death.

• You are to use the sword of deliverance against the spirit of death and all antagonistic spirit beings.

Possessed objects.

• You use your sword of deliverance against all possesses objects.

The hosts of hell.

• Use the sword of deliverance against all hosts of hell because the enemy is restless, untiring and desperately wicked.
• Satan is subtle in taking captives. Women contractors in Kenya are first made to contract their bodies before they obtain contracts.
• The money they make becomes the reward of iniquity and it won’t favor them in any way.
• Others are made to go with their daughters to seek contracts in exchange.
• The enemy knows who is powerful and who is powerless.
• The sword of deliverance is used by those who love Jesus and hate the devil.
• It is for those who hate bondage but love freedom.
• Use the power of the sword of deliverance every day.

CONCLUSION- Prayer points

• Ever power of affliction working against me, be paralyzed in the name of Jesus.
• I stand against every operation of the spirit of death and hell, in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Every force of oppression working against me, be paralyzed in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Oh sword of deliverance, slay my enemies and the enemies of my destiny in the name of Jesus Christ.
