UNLOCKING THE DOORS OF DIVINE HELP.

SERIES: DIVINE INTERVENTIONS

TEXT: PSALM 121:1-2.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.”

Life is a journey filled with challenges, battles, and uncertainties and no one can successfully navigate through it without divine assistance. Many people struggle in vain because they relied solely on human connections, intellect and personal effort. True and lasting help comes from God, the creator of heaven and earth.

In Psalm 121:1-2 a fundamental truth is revealed to us today.

  • Looking up to the hills represents looking beyond human limitations and placing full trust in God.
  • Divine help is the supernatural intervention of God that lifts a person out of struggle and sets him in a place of favor, provision and victory.
  • Psalm 121 was a song that expresses assurance and hope in God’s protection day and night.
  • God did not just create the hills but the heavens and the earth as well.
  • We should not trust lesser power than God Himself.
  • Today let us explore how to unlock the doors of divine help. God has made help available, but we must understand how to access His help.
  • When we engage the right principles, divine assistance will locate us and we will walk in supernatural breakthroughs. Let us learn:-

RECOGNIZING GOD AS THE SOURCE OF HELP.

  • The first step to unlocking divine help is acknowledging that only God can provide true and lasting assistance.
  • Human help is limited even the most powerful people on earth can fail, but God never fails-Jeremiah 17:5-6.
  • God is an ever-present helper, He is always available to help those who call upon Him-Psalm 46:1-7.
  • Divine help is unfailing, He will never abandon those who trust in Him-Deut. 31:6.
  • Divine help is supernatural. It goes beyond human ability and brings results that man cannot achieve-Isaiah 41:10.
  • King Jehoshaphat. He acknowledged his helplessness and sought God’s help, leading to a miraculous victory-2nd Chronicles 20:12-15.

WHEN WE NEED DIVINE HELP-Zephaniah 3:17-20.

  1. In situations when no one wants to help-Psalm 27:10.

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then Jehovah will take me up.”

  1. Situations when those who want to help eventually fail-Matt. 17:14-18.
  • The disciples of Jesus Christ failed to heal the man and Jesus Christ intervened.
  1. Situations when it is beyond the ability of man-Isaiah 43:2.
  2. When hard work and ideas can no longer solve financial problems in the family-Luke 5:1-11.
  3. When it seems like the waiting period has no expiry date and when someone may be lacking in the midst of plenty.
  4. When the heat of life is so much to bear-Daniel 3:19; 25-27.
  • Fire does not burn fire. When the fourth-man Jesus Christ is in the fire with you.

ACCESSING DIVINE HELP THROUGH PRAYER AND FAITH.

  • Prayer and faith are two keys that unlock divine help.
  • God responds to the cry of His people. When the Israelites cried out to God, He delivered them from Egypt-Exodus 3:7-8.
  • Faith activates divine assistance. Without faith it is impossible to receive help from God-Hebrews 11:6.
  • Persistent prayer opens the heavens-Luke 18:1-8.
  • Divine help is released when we call upon God. Bartimaeus received his sight because he cried out in faith to Jesus-Mark 10:46-52.
  • Hannah prayed persistently and God helped her by giving her a son-1st 1:9-20.

WALKING IN OBEDIENCE TO ATTRACT GOD’S HELP.

  • Obedience to God positions us for divine assistance.
  • God helps those who walk in His ways-Isaiah 1:19.
  • Sin blocks divine help-Deut. 28:15-20.
  • Obedience to God activates angelic help. When Daniel continued in prayer and righteousness God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions-Dan. 6:22.

DIVINE HELP THROUGH DESTINY HELPERS.

  • God will often send human vessels to assist His people.
  • God uses people as instruments of help. The butler recommended Joseph to Pharaoh-Gen. 41:9-14.
  • Destiny helpers are divinely positioned. Ruth met Boaz at the right place and found favor-Ruth 2:8-10.
  • God can stir the heart of men to favor you-Esther 5:1-3.
  • Recognizing and honoring destiny helpers is key. Elisha blessed the women who honored him with food-2nd Kings 4:8-17.
  • Naaman’s servant girl. She directed Naaman to Elisha, leading to his healing-2nd Kings 5:1-14.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP ACTIVATES DIVINE HELP.

  • Personal or corporate praise and worship are powerful weapons that opens the heavens for divine intervention.
  • Praise and worship moves God to act on our behalf. Paul and Silas praised and worshipped God in prison and the doors of the prison supernaturally opened-Acts 16:25-26.
  • Praise silences the enemy. When Jehoshaphat’s army sang praises, God fought their battle-2nd 20:21-22.
  • A grateful heart attracts continuous help. The one leper who returned to thank Jesus received wholeness-Luke 17:15-19.
  • King David’s lifestyle of praise and worship ensured that God was always on his side-Psalm 34:1.

CONCLUSION

  • God is our ultimate helper and He is always ready to intervene in our lives. Let us acknowledge Him as our only source of divine help.

PRAY:

  • Father, I lift my eyes to you; send me divine help speedily-in Jesus name.
  • Lord, open my eyes to recognize my destiny helpers-in Jesus name.
  • Every power blocking my divine assistance, be destroyed-in Jesus name.
  • Father, let my faith be strengthened as I wait on your help-in Jesus name.
  • Lord, I receive supernatural favor and assistance in every area of my life-in Jesus name. Amen.
