WE NEED YOUR FIRE LORD!!

SERIES: REVIVAL TIMES

TEXT: 1st KINGS 18:30-37

We are talking revival these days at FBC Athi-river. Revival is when the fire of God falls on a person or a people of God. In order for the fire of God to fall the Altar must be prepared and the offering must be on the Altar. The original Fire must come from God Himself but it must be maintained by the child of God or the Assembly of God’s people-(Leviticus 6:12-13)

  • Elijah was really disturbed by the state of the people of God.
  • They had shifted from the true worship to idol worship.
  • Elijah decided to do something about it, he stood in the gap to advocate for the true worship and by his word it did not rain for three and half years.
  • Throughout the famine, the Lord sustained Elijah through supernatural provisions.
  • Decision time came, and they all met at the mountain for the true God to manifest Himself by Fire.
  • The God who answered by fire is the true God. The essence of worship is manifestation.
  • Even in the dark world, ancestral and devil worship manifestation is key and if the target of worshippers to see and hear something happening!!
  • If baal revealed himself by fire, they would worship Him and if Jehovah answered by fire they would return to true worship.
  • Elijah was confident in His God, he understood His Nature for the word says in Hebrews 12:29, “Our God is consuming Fire.”
  • Even today, He has not changed, He is a Consuming Fire!
  • We need to pray this prayer of Elijah that Jehovah will answer by fire.
  • Today the church has been cold and compromised.
  • There are no more miracles and advancement in the Love of Christ.
  • We seriously need the fire to fall down, we need that baptism of fire that John prophesied about Jesus Christ.
  • It is time to refuse to be comfortable with ordinary church regulations and Norms.
  • Refuse to continue going to church and coming out the same way we came.
  • We want the fire of God to fall on us, the sacrifice!!
  • We need the fire to cleanse Me and revive me
  • Let us see the steps to attract the presence of God.

PREPARATION.

  • Preparation is a big principle in revival. For the fire to come down, Elijah did prepare
  • His turn came and it was a perfect time “The time of the evening sacrifice.”
  • Elijah declared his intentions, they were for God to be manifested.
  • For it be known that Jehovah is the true God, God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israel.
  1. He repaired the broken Altar.
  2. He build the altar with twelve stones in the Name of the Lord.
  3. He put wood in order.
  4. He made a trench about the altar.
  5. He prepared the bullock cut it to pieces and laid him on the wood.
  6. He poured water on the sacrifices.
  • The preparation was very important for the fire to fall.
  • The altar had to be prepared, the Lord had commanded Moses that the fire of the altar should never go out.
  • The 12 stones represented the 12 tribes of Isreal.
  • Obedience is a precursor to usher the power of God.
  • The trench was to separate and set apart the altar of God from the other ground, which the prophets of Baal had already defiled by spilling of the blood and their pagan rites.
  • The water was for purification and also to manifest a God of impossibilities.
  • Water and fire do not co-exist, wet wood is difficult to catch fire!!
  • When all was ready, Elijah prayed and the fire of the Lord Fell.
  • Let us always repair our altars in great anticipation of the fire of God falling upon us to revive us in Jesus Name.

WHEN THE FIRE FELL.

  • When the fire of the Lord falls upon us, we will not remain the same.
  • Everything that has hindered us from pure and sincere worship will be dealt with in Jesus Name.

Elijah manifested the power of God-(1 Kings 18:37-39)

  • After Elijah prayed, the fire of the Lord fell.

The first things the fire did was to consume the sacrifice.

  • Sacrifices attracts the fire of God.
  • It is dangerous to ask for the Fire when there is not sacrifice!!
  • When there is sacrifice, the fire falls instantly.
  • The fire consumed the sacrifice.
  • In chapter 19 of 1st Kings, when the same Elijah is praying for the rain, on another mountain, the servant of Elijah had to go check for a sign for seven times.
  • There was no altar and no sacrifice.
  • Today the altar, the meeting place of God and Man is at the cross, at Jesus Christ.
  • We are called to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, May the fire of God fall and consume the sacrifice.

The fire of the Lord consumed the wood-(Ecclesiastes 11:3)

  • Where the tree falls it remains there, the spirit of stagnation is active.
  • There is need for the fire to burn the wood, any spirit of stagnation that has delayed us in growth and fruitfulness Let the fire of God consume it in Jesus Name.
  • The lame man in John 5. He has infirmity, he had remained at the pool for 38 years until Jesus Christ Came.
  • He had remained there not for lack of effort, but the spirit of stagnation had bound him.
  • In Det 1:6, the Lord told Moses the people had stagnated at the mountain for very long (40 years).
  • The fire of God, destroys stagnancy.

CONCLUSION

  • Let the fire of the Lord fall and consume every wood in our lives in Jesus Name.
  • Every dead work must be consumed in Jesus Name.
  • Let us prepare the sacrifice now, Let us by faith call upon God, for His fire to fall on each one of us.
