WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DEMONS

SERIES: DELIVERANCE

TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:12

It is very important for every child of God to know and understand the nature, power, influence and limitations of demons, in order to live and over-comers lifestyle.

Demons are angles who decided to follow Lucifer the archangel in his rebellion against God. Demons are “the fallen angels”-Rev. 12:4-9. Jesus called some beings angels of the devil-Matt. 25:41. The Pharisees recognised the existence of demons/devils-Matt. 12:24. Let us learn:-

THE NATURE OF DEMONS.

• Demons are evil. There are no good demons, they are all evil spirits.
• Demons carry out the wishes and commands of satan their master-1^st 10-11.
• Demons are intelligent and wise-1^st Kings 22:22-24.
• Demons have knowledge, feelings and will-Acts 19:15; Matt. 8:29.
• They are spirit beings without bodies of their own-Luke 24:29.
• Demons are very desperate to live in borrowed bodies.
• Demons have miraculous power and can deceive-Rev. 16:13-16.

WHERE DO DEMONS LIVE?

1. Basically demons live in the air above the earth-Eph. 2:2. They live in seas and desert places.

• There are three heavens according to the Bible.

1. The first heaven is the airspace around us, the place where birds fly and airplanes fly.
2. The second heaven is the abode of satan. Satan reigns in heavenly places or high places.
3. The third heaven is the throne of God-2^nd 12:1-4

• The second heaven is also called high-places-Eph. 6:12.
• Demons also live in evil places and places where crime and murders have been committed.

2. Demons can inhabit humans and when they are desperate can enter into animals and any other thing living and none-living-Mark 5:2-12.

DEMONS AND THEIR WORKS.

1. Demons and satan can preach-Matt. 4.
2. Demons can tell fortunes and the future, they can prophesy-Acts 16:16-17.

• What they say can be absolute truth, it is however for a different reason.
• In Acts 16:16-17, the fortune teller girl wanted people to think that Paul and Silas were in league with demons.

3. Demons can imitate departed dead as familiar spirits-1^st 28:3-9.
4. Demons can go out and come back into a person at will, except they are cast out, renounced and rejected-Matt. 12:43-45.
5. Demons can travel near and far-Mark 5:7-12.
6. Demons can work out miracles-Rev. 16:13-14; Exodus 7:11-12.

• It is very easy for demons to trap sign seekers-2^nd 2:9. As a believer you should not follow signs, but signs should follow you-Mark 16:16.

7. Demons talk. They talk through a person’s mental and speech faculties in the same way that your spirit talks through your own tongue-Mark 3:10-11; Luke 4:4.
8. Demons don’t surrender easily, that’s why demons casting out should not be taken casually-1^st Peter 5:8-9.

• Demons can call for reinforcement-Matt. 12:43-45. When a delivered person refuse to fully concentrate to Christ, demons which were cast out would call more wicked demons alongside to re-enter the person.

9. Demons know those who have authority over them-Acts 19:13-16.

• Mary Magdalene was possessed of seven devils yet one man anointed (Jesus) drove them away. On another instance seven men without divine authority could not cast out even one devil.

10. Demons can attack christians. The devil came to Eve in the garden, he took Jesus Christ to the mountain, but as children of God our victory is sure-1^st John 5:4; Isa. 59:19; 1^st John 4:4.

• Demons torment and harass people through suggestions dropped into their minds-Matt. 15:22.
• Demons cause diseases and afflictions-Matt. 8:16; Acts 10:38.
• Demons know their future-Matt. 8:29.
• Demons fight against peace in people, families, churches, countries and the entire world.
• Demons invade our minds with thoughts, suggestions, condemnation and accusations.
• Demons are real and are organized.
• Some religions like Islam are run by demons or jinns.

CONCLUSION

• It is important for every true believer in Christ to understand the workings of satan and his demons.
• When demons possess bodies, they act as personalities and behave as ordinary humans.
• One person can exist in several personalities and personalities function as humans all the time throughout the world.
