WHEN YOU ARE UNDER THE ATTACK

ISAIAH 59:19

INTRODUCTION

“So shall they fear the Name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in, like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Many people don’t understand this verse because they do not read it correctly. It is the spirit of God that shall like a flood, not the enemy. Many people usually say “when the enemy shall rise like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” In the original Hebrews version it says “when the enemy shall come in, like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against Him.”

Let us learn:-

I.  WHY DOES A PERSON COME UNDER ATTACK OF THE ENEMY?

  • A person comes under attack because the enemy wants to conquer him
  • A person comes under attack because the enemy wants to suppress him.
  • A person comes under attack because the enemy wants to contend with his destiny.
  • A person comes under attack because his existence is a threat to the existence of another person (Isaac and Ishmael)
  • A person comes under attack because his destiny is an eagle destiny (Joseph son of Jacob)
  • A person comes under attack because he is trying to escape from the hands of a slave master. Your freedom is a threat to your master.
  • A person comes under attack because somewhere somehow some persons, powers or personalities do not want to see him around. Your presence can be a great bother to others
  • A person comes under attack because he is a hindrance to other person’s or people progress to achieving their own goals.

There was a man who was really downcast, he prayed and God showed him a vision of himself the day he was born and was taken to a witchdoctor like is the practice of many tribes in Kenya and indeed the whole of African. When he was taken to the witchdoctor his parent enquired about his future and the witchdoctor said “This one is the saviour of the entire family. All of you will without exception greatly benefit from this your son. You will all bow to him, he will be the anchor in the family”. Unfortunately when the witchdoctor was saying this the other seven wives of his father were around listening. His battle started not because he had offended anybody but because of his divine destiny.

The city of Jerusalem has been frequently attacked because of its prophetic destiny. When you come under attack frequently, it is because there is something in your destiny that Satan does not want to happen. This man was attacked, his health, education, relationships, spent 14years in primary school and 8years in university. Jesus Christ because of destiny was attacked even unto death. The problem is that at the baby stage of life there is nothing a baby can do. They come saying “let we carry the baby, let me put the baby to bed, let me give the baby food” while the baby is being destroyed. His destiny was proclaimed in the presence of his enemies.

II.  DECISION-MAKING WHILE UNDER ATTACK

  • Many Christians make the wrong decision while under attack.
  • Our decisions should be based on some principles when we find that we are under attack.
  1. Our decision must be based on what the Holy Spirit is prompting us to do.
  2. It must be based on the word of God
  3. It must be based on Biblical principles

In Exodus 14, the Israelites marched out of Egypt. A pillar of fire and a cloud led them. When the pillar moved, they moved. When the pillar stayed they stayed. So we must follow God in the attack.

III.  WHEN YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK WHAT DO YOU DO?

  1. Don’t panic be clam (Psalm 46:10) “be still and know that I am God.” Instead of panic, praise God.
  • When in a time of delay don’t panic, even in “senior panic”
  • When you are dumped do not rebound and throw yourself.
  1. Analyze it by the wisdom of God: (Ecclesiastes 7:14) “In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider” any working system would occasionally develop crises.
  2. Seek for Godly counsel (Proverbs 11:4). Ignorance is destructive don’t neglect knowledge.
  3. Expect the power of God to move on your behalf.
  • Adversity is the enemy’s reaction to your progress. It is the enemy’s attempt to steal your approaching blessing.
  1. Fight back (James 4:7) “resist the devil and he will flee from you.
  • Satan loves very fearful people, but real fighters intimidate him.
  1. Use your spiritual weapons “II Cor. 10:4” The weapons of our warfare are the word God, the fire of God, the name of Jesus Christ, the Blood of Jesus Christ, praises, testimonies, Prayers etc.
  2. Soak yourself in the scriptures (Psalm 119:92)
  3. Remember that seasons change (Psalm 30:5) attacks will not last forever, people change, circumstances – God will change things on your behalf.
  4. Be spiritually tough: – life is a battle and the violent takes it by force. God is in control and is bigger than any problem or enemy you have (Heb. 13:5-6)
  5. Guard you mind with diligence, if you have victory in your mind, you will never be defeated (Isaiah 26:3)
  6. Never give up (2Tim 4:7) you will overcome. Your God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Paul.
  7. Pray to locate and fire your arrow at the unprotected forehead of your enemy.
  • Like a flood, God will raise up the standard.

CONCLUSION PRAYER

  1. Every arrow fired into my destiny, backfire in the Name of Jesus.
  2. Every power that stole my destiny in childhood, return it by fire in the Name of Jesus Christ.
  3. Every wall standing against my progress, fall in the Name of Jesus
  4. Every garment of wickedness and shame, be roasted in the Name of Jesus Christ.
  5. Every hidden authority and stubborn pursuer that is following me, I command you to die, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
