SERIES: SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGHS
TEXT: 1st JOHN 5:18-20; PSALM 91:1-10
Immunity is the state whereby certain things cannot harm you. It is having an internal defense. Many Christians wonder why they are always attacked and the attacks succeed. There are others who don’t seem to see any attack. Nothing seems to touch them. The difference depends on the principle of spiritual immunity. Believers in Christ are meant to be immune to certain things but lack of knowledge kills people pre-maturely. We need to know what we have as a result of our being born again. We need to worship the Lord, spend time with God every day and moment. We need to attend church services regularly- Heb.10:25. We need to give to God our tithes and offerings so that He will open the windows of Heaven and pour down blessings upon us. We need to witness to others and live holy lives. The child of God living in holiness, full surrender and obedience cannot be touched by Satan. He/she has full immunity except by the permissive will of God can such a person be touched by Satan and our enemies- 1st John 5:18. Let us learn:-
YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE
- Talking about spiritual immunity, the first thing is to know your identity in Christ.
- If you don’t know who you are, you cannot know what to do with immunity.
- When there is an outbreak of disease, it is good to know if you are inoculated against the disease.
- John the Baptist knew who he was when they asked him about his identity- John 1:22-23.
- Jacob learnt the hard way about identity. His name was not in the place of blessing- Gen.27.
- Elijah knew he was “A man of God” therefore he could call fire down from heaven.
- Angel Gabriel knew who he is- Luke 1:19-20.
- Satan would want us to doubt our identity. He told Jesus, “If you are the son of God”- Matt. 4:5-6.
WHO ARE YOU?
- Jesus Christ was always confessing who He was.
- Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life”-John 14:6.
- “I am the bread of life,” “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.”
- “I am, the light of the world, I am good shepherd.”
- If you are saved, you are a branch-John 15:5, you’re new creation-2nd 5:17, you are God’s workmanship-Eph. 2:10.
- There is therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus-Rom.8:1
- Know your rights as a child of God.
- Stand your ground like Elijah who said, “If I be a servant of the Most High God, let fire fall.”
- John the Baptist knew who he was he said, “I am not Elijah, I am not that prophet, I am a voice crying in the wilderness, follow the way of the Lord, make His path straight.”
- When you know who you are, your confidence in God would be settled in your spirit.
IMMUNITY SCRIPTURES.
- Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord that healeth thee.”
- Deuteronomy 7:15-“And the Lord will take away from you all sickness and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt.
- 3rd John 1:2, “Beloved, I wished above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.”
WAY OF LOOSING ONES IMMUNITY.
- Repaying evil for evil-Rom. 12:21.
- When you refuse to accept responsibility for your faults. When you fail to forgive those that have hurt you-Mark 11:25.
- When you don’t let God fight for you.
- When you are selfish and practice any willful sin-1st John 5:16-21.
Habitual sin of unbelief leads to spiritual death and eventually to physical weakness, sickness and death.
- All unrighteousness is sin and there is sin not leading to death.
- Idol worship-An idol is anything that substitutes for God in your life-1st John 5:25. Idol worship is a fruit of unbelief-1st 10:1-12.
STRATEGIES TO MAINTAIN SPIRITUAL IMMUNITY.
- Your blood must be immunized-Leviticus 12:11.
- Your bones-God is the keeper of your bones-Psalm 34:19-20.
- Your skin-God will keep your skin.
- Lay your hands on your head when you pray, you can also anoint yourself with oil.
- Home or house-Deut. 7:26.
- Bewitched decorations, material, jewelry, curved images. They can put you into bondage.
- Occult materials will compromise your immunity.
- Don’t let your house become a traffic of demons because you have their property in your home. Don’t let your home, house and body become an evil plantation of satanic things.
CONCLUSION
- O Lord immunize me against satanic poison, serpentine spirit and demonic arrows-In Jesus name.
- Anywhere I have compromised my immunity, O Lord, forgive me in Jesus name.
- My blood, brain and bones receive the fire of God in Jesus name.
- I refuse to be a candidate of any sickness-In Jesus name.
