ENTERING INTO YOUR BLESSING

SERIES: WALKING IN THE F.O.G

TEXT: RUTH 2:2-16

Location, timing and personal connections play an important role in your personal destiny. Being in the right place and with the right people is important for destiny.

This was the case with Naomi and Ruth. After their world fell apart in Moab, they had lost their husbands. Sometimes, it is through terrible loses that God will move us to the place of destiny.

Naomi in her mourning of husband and her two sons (Elimelech, Mahlon and Killion). She forgot all about an important kingdom connection, this connection would prove to be the source of her miracle. The connection name was BOAZ a near relative to her departed husband-Elimelech (a kinsman redeemer).

Naomi and Ruth set their eyes towards Bethlehem because they were hungry.

They showed up in Bethlehem, looking for bread. Praise God, when they arrived Bethlehem it was time for wheat and barley harvest. In the kingdom of God it is always harvest time-time of plenty.

Naomi and Ruth happen to be connected to someone out there who owns a large wheat field.

  • God’s timing is always perfect. He sends the right people into our lives at the right time.
  • There is someone out there that God has just for you, the key to your heart.
  • Someone has a word to give that brings you people affirmation, confirmation to feed your soul.
  • Ruth is about to start the next part of her journey to blessing.
  • Her first step was to leave Moab. She did so by cleaving to Naomi.
  • In order to enter into your blessing, you must leave your Moab-place of the curse, come to the Bethlehem-the house of bread, to the “Bread of life”-Jesus Christ the Lord.
  • Ruth moved to Bethlehem by faith-without faith we cannot please God-Heb. 11:6.
  • In Bethlehem there was a kinsman, relationship to this kinsman is the key to blessing. Let us learn:-

RUTH STEPPED INTO FAVOR BY GRACE.

  • Naomi and Ruth returned to the city of Bethlehem in the time of barley harvest-Ruth 1:22.
  • Ruth now is at the right place at the right time and right people.
  • The movement and progression of our blessing are dependent on our last act of obedience.
  • God will only give more after we have followed the previous instructions.
  • The first steps were; cleave to Nomi, leave Moab, go to Bethlehem, go to the gleaning field-obedience.
  • God doesn’t work with disobedient people-people who don’t listen, cannot hear, to obey-Faith comes by hearing, by hearing God’s word-Rom. 10:17.
  • Today we see how the progression and movement of blessing flows so we can move into our destiny.

THE PRINCIPLE OF INCREASE-Mark 4:28-29.

  • Mark 4 explains the principle of increase from 30 fold to 100 fold.

The principle of increase shows us that if the seed is planted in good ground and weather conditions are right, the seed will begin a three stage process.

  • First, the blade.
  • Second, the head (the ear or stalk).
  • Third, the full grain, the corn or mature fruit.
  • Each stage in their process represents a different level of blessing-Mark 4:8.
  • The increase is either 30, 60 or 100 fold.
  • When the corn is ripe and harvested it can be used for food or stored for further sowing!!
  • When Ruth entered the barley field, she started at the corner of the field after the field had already been harvested-Ruth 2:2-3.
  • In the course of time Ruth was not just gleaning the left overs but was invited to receive real barley-Ruth 3:15.
  • Each one of us has bread and seed.
  • Bread is for eating and seed is for planting-2nd Cor. 9:6-15.
  • In the church you can tell who eats their seed-they never tithe and give to the ministry of the church they attend.
  • These non-givers never plant anything to their future.
  • These people, they eat the bread and the seed!!
  • They have salvation, but they forfeit blessing because they refuse to sow back into the field.
  • Your spiritual journey starts at the cross, but it doesn’t end at the cross-it is a progressive sanctification into eternity.

MOVING FROM THE SEED TO MATURE FRUIT.

  • Pastors are choosy at the church they would serve.
  • Some pastors want to serve in large church, healthy church, growing church.
  • Some pastors will never choose a small church in a small town.
  • Most want the big ones with lots of people, money and middle class to upper class.
  • Most pastors don’t want the lower class people with poverty and very needy people. They want to eat well, dress well, drive well and associate with the upper and middle class people.
  • They want to walk into the corn field and start picking at the center, stumps and hindrances that will prevent their seed growing.
  • But, God’s favor comes to those who are obedient in little things-Matt. 25:21-23.
  • Once we learn to walk through small doors, God will open up larger ones for us.
  • If you are not faithful as a church member, forget asking for major leadership roles.
  • Work in the corners of the field for a while.
  • When you think of Ruth, Boaz’s wife, David’s grandmother, a matriarch of faith, first link in Israel’s royal chain-she started in the corner of the field.
  • Ruth did not start out asking for leadership, she asked for grace-Ruth 2:2 and favor-Ruth 2:13.
  • Favor opens the door but grace keeps the door open-just grow where you are planted.
  • Your call is a one-time event, but it is developed/matures over the course of your whole life.

THE LAW OF GLEANING.

  • God established through Moses a law called the Law of gleaning-Leviticus 19:9-10.
  • When the owner of the field harvested his field he was to allow the four corners to remain standing so the poor, the widows and strangers could come and glean in that field.
  • The poor don’t have land, seed to grow their own.
  • Ruth went out because she was a stranger, foreigner and widow-Ruth 2:3-7.
  • The first thing that attracted Boaz to Ruth was her industry not beauty-2:9.
  • God rewards those who work faithfully with pure motives.
  • In order to advance into your increase-
  1. Learn everything you can about call/job/assignment (God and people will notice you).
  2. Offer to do above and beyond what you are expected to do.
  3. Try to solve problems that make it easier on those over you (solve problems don’t cause them).
  4. Discover when and where the next level/promotion is coming from, position yourself with the needed experience.
  5. Determine that you will stay, even in tough times.
  6. Face any misunderstanding in love, before it gets out of hand.
  7. Never speak of another worker behind their back.

CONCLUSION

  • Follow where the Lord leads.
  • Be faithful to your assignment.
  • The grace of God will never lead you to the place it cannot keep you.
  • Go through the doors God opens for you.
  • Stay put, look to God’s favor and grace.
