TEXT: GALATIANS 4:4-5
“But when the fullness of the time had come, God send forth His son born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons”-Gal. 4:4-5.
Have you ever stopped to consider how different the world might be if Jesus had never been born? First you and I would not be there this morning, I will never have known you and you me!!
The birth of Jesus Christ changed the entire world.
Jesus Christ came into the world right on time, to redeem, rescue and reconcile man to God. I for one if Jesus Christ had not come into the world I would have died long time ago!! I would have died because of sin. But at the fullness of time, Jesus saved my soul, giving me purpose and meaning to live. Today, let us spend some time sharing seven areas in which the world has forever been changed by the impact of the birth of Christ. Let us learn:-
FIRST, BECAUSE JESUS CAME THE WORLD HAS ATTACHED A NEW VALUE TO HUMAN LIFE.
Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created Him, male and female He created them.”
- The concept of sanctity is a spiritual concept.
- The word sanctity comes from a Latin word “Sanctus” which means “Holy” or sacred God.
- Human life is of great value to God.
- In non-christian nations life is very cheap.
- Christianity has changed the value attached to human life, especially to children, women and the elderly.
- Prior to the coming of Christ and the gospel of salvation abortion, infanticide, and abandonment were common practices.
- Because of the value of human life given in the Bible child killing has almost stopped.
- Christianity is always “pro-life” and never “pro-choice.”
- Disabled people, old people, twins have the right to life like anybody else.
- Prior to Christian influence, a woman’s life was very cheap. In most ancient cultures the woman was the property of the father or the husband.
- In some cultures, when the husband died, he was buried together with the living wife or wives!!
- Today, the value of human life has appreciated because of the Christian values.
- In other religions of the world the value for the life of children and women is very cheap.
- Consider Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, African traditional religions and their view in life of both girls and women.
SECONDLY, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME INTO THE WORLD HUMAN NEEDS RESPONSE HAS BEEN PRIOTIZED.
“He who despises his neighbor sins; but he who has mercy on the poor, happy is He”-Prov. 14:21.
- Before the advent of Christianity there was no organized charitable effort at large in the world.
- Because of Christianity we have the “Red-cross” relief organizations for the poor widows and orphans are cared for.
- Hospitals began through Christianity, nursing care, like the red-cross was started by an evangelical Christian, tear-fund WV etc.
- A world without Christ would be a world without charity.
THIRD, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME THE WORLD HAS CHANGED THE WAY IT LOOKS AT EDUCATION-Deut. 6:6-7.
- Virtually every school you see-public or private, religious or not is visible reminder of the religion of Christ.
- The best of schools, primary, high school, college and university has begun because of Christianity.
- The greatest universities worldwide were started by Christians, Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Colombia, of the top 127 universities in USA are Christian established.
FORTH, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME THE WORLD VIEW ON SELF-GOVERNMENT HAS CHANGED.
- Christopher Columbus stated that he was led by the Holy Spirit in discovering America in order that the prophecy of Isaiah might be fulfilled about turning the heathen to the truth.
- When George Washington was inaugurated as the first president of USA in 1789, he kneeled down and kissed the Bible.
- He then led the entire senate and congress to the church for a two hours service!!
- 50 of the 56 signers of the declaration of independence were Christians.
- Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of USA said “the duty of nations as well as men is to owe their dependence upon the over-ruling power of God……. nations are only blessed when the Lord God is the Lord.”
- Had Jesus Christ not come there would be no USA or even Kenya!!
FIFTH, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME THE WORLD HAS CHANGED ITS VIEW ABOUT SCIENCE.
- Science, theology and history, the first estates and they stand together. Christian theology is the prince of all science.
- Some of the greatest pioneers of science were committed Christians.
- Bacteriology-Louis Pasteur.
- Calculus-Isaac Newton.
- Electromagnetism-Michael Faraday.
- Most of the great scientific discoveries would not have been possible were it not for the coming of Jesus Christ into the world.
SIXTH, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME INTO THE WORLD, THE VIEW OF HUMAN SEXUALITY HAS CHANGED.
- Jesus Christ challenged the world on the subject of human sexuality.
- Jesus Christ challenged and condemned adultery, fornication and homosexuality and other sexual immoralities in general (L.G.B.T.Q)
- When God commanded us not to commit adultery, He was protecting the sacredness and sanctity of marriage between a husband and wife.
- God says that homosexuality is wrong.
- The Bible says that they are born way, however homosexuality is a learned behavior. Homosexuality and lesbians also argue that they cannot change. This is not true because many have changed.
- Homosexuality is a curse in that homosexuals and lesbians have a reduced life span. Homosexuals die at the average of 43 years while normal people die at the average age of 74 years.
SEVENTH, BECAUSE CHRIST CAME THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF FORGIVENESS FOR OUR SINS.
“Father forgive them for they know not what they do”-Luke 23:43.
- Jesus came to redeem us from our sin.
- Happiness is to be forgiven of sin.
CONCLUSION
- What if Christ had not been born? How would your life be?
- Is the world different because you are a Christian?
- In the fullness of time, God sent His son to make adoption possible. Are you saved?
