SERIES: MALACHI TODAY.
TEXT: MALACHI 3:6.
God is unchanging, God never changes. This morning we will discuss five areas of God that have never changed. His nature and His character, His plans, His promises and Hid His love. The Bible tells us in Philippians 1:6, God began a good work in us, God will labor until the work is complete. “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
God’s labor is not complete until it is totally finished. Once God has begun a work in a person’s life, He will not stop until that work reaches its completion.
To completely understand christians it would be a good idea to study Christ Himself. God’s goal for our lives is that every follower of Christ will be made more like Him. It does not matter even if God will take some things or some people out of your life.
A naturalist may boast of his ability to understand the insect world. As may be able to arrange all the insects into classes and call them by an utrerable classes and names-But there is no moral, value in knowing these facts about insects. In knowing all the names of the stars of heaven has no moral values.
If somebody studies computer science and knows all the hardware and the software, is there any moral value?
But if somebody studied Jesus Christ to understand His love for the world, there is great moral value in that endeavor He who often thinks God, he has ability to set his mind on godly things. This is great moral and spiritual value to our soul. Paul tells us in Colossians 3:2, set your minds on what is above, not on what is on earth.”
Nothing will help a person more than to investigate godly things-to seek godly wisdom and God guidance.
Please study Christ, He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the unchangeable One, the eternal one, listen to what God’s word says. Let us learn:-
GOD’S NATURE CANNOT CHANGE.
- He is infinite, He is almighty, He is powerful, He has not changed.
- The mountains with their snow, white crowns will with time be worn away, rain will beat upon them.
- Rivers will trickle down their sides, storms will unleash their forces against them and over time the power of nature will have its effects upon the mountains.
- But this is not so with God. He is God and He never changes.
- As humans we change, as children we grow physically, emotionally and socially.
- Our bodies are constantly in transition.
- As toddlers we seem to have unending amounts of energy-running here and there.
- During adolescence and youth our hormones change and we find those opposite genders of interest, we date, we marry, we raise families, we become parents and grandparents.
- When we are ageing our metabolism slows down, we don’t run so fast, we don’t see so well, we forget things easily-But God does not change.
- God is not flesh and blood-He is spirit, pure and holy-He remains the same-unchangeable.
- There are no wrinkles on His face, no age spots on His hands. He does not get dark circles under His eyes for lack of sleep.
- He is the Great I AM. The great unchangeable His essence does not change.
- Even when Christ became man, God’s nature did not change, flesh did not become God, but God became flesh and dwelt among us.
- God remains everlasting, eternal, the one unchanging God.
- He is the father of lights, with who there is no shadow-He tells us, “I am God, yes I am, I have not changed”-Malachi 3:6.
- Because God’s nature does not change, let us trust Him.
GOD’S CHARACTER HAS NOT CHANGED.
- Whatever God’s character was from before time, it still is today.
“As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.”
- Was God mighty when He created the universe? When He formed the mountains?
- Was He holy when He told Moses to remove his shoes for he was standing on holy ground? He is still holy, He does not change.
- Was God wise when He put all things in order? When He put thousands of galaxies in the sky? He has not changed.
- Was God wise when He planned the way of salvation? Yes, He was and still is wise God.
- God’s wisdom is unchanging from the beginning even till now He will never, never change.
- Psalm 104:24, “How countless are your works, Lord! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.”
- God has always been holy, just, wise and merciful.
- God is thrice Holy, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the earth is filled with His glory.”
- He is unchanged mercy, He is unchanged love, He is unchanged justice, He is unchanged, truth, He is unchanged goodness-God has not changed.
“I am God-yes I Am, I have not changed”-Malachi 3:6.
- Mercy, justice, faithfulness, wisdom, patience, holiness, compassion and any other attribute of God, have not changed forever and ever and ever.
GOD’S PLANS HAVE NOT CHANGED.
- A man started a journey but became sick on his day of departure, so he changed his plans.
- Another man was building a house, but before it was finished, he ran out of money, so he changed his plans.
- Has this ever happened to God? Has, He ever gotten sick, does God become sick or run out of money, so can He change His plans? NO, NEVER!!-Phil. 1:6.
- God does not get sick, he does not run out of money, He doe not forget, He is unlimited-Jer. 29:11.
- God’s plan for your life is a plan for your welfare, His plans have not changed.
- Trust your life to the unchanging God.
GOD’S PROMISES HAVE NOT CHANGED.
- God always keeps His promises. His yes is always yes, His no is always No.
- Man on the other hand, man changes his mind and his promises, how can you trust man. It is difficult to trust a changing thing.
- Hebrews 6:18, “God can’t break His word. And because His word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go” (MsG).
- A promise is never a promise if it is changing all the time.
- Everyone of us wants a solid thing.
- The Bible is full of promises and they never change.
- You and I must stand on the promises of God.
- God’s promises have not changed.
GOD’S LOVE HAS NOT CHANGED.
- God has loved you from the eternity passed.
“He chose us in Him before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love”-Eph. 1:4.
- God loves us with an everlasting love. God loves us with unchanging love.
- Love never fails, because God loves you He cares for you-He has always loved you.
- God knows our sins, our weaknesses and our failures and He still loves us.
- For His great love God forgives us-1st John 1:9
- Does God ever change? NO-James 1:17.
- God is immutable-He is not capable of, or susceptible to change.
- God’s goodness never changes-Psalm 34:8; Psalm 145:7-9; Lamentations 3:22-23.
CONCLUSION.
- God’s unchanging nature gives us confidence and hope.
- We can trust God’s constant love and power.
- God has an unchanging ability to make a way where there seems to be no way.
- Surrender to Him today.
