A LOOK OF A PLACE CALLED HEAVEN.

THE END OF TIME

 REVELATION 21:1-27

As we come to the end of this series this series of messages concerning the end of time, I could think of no better way to end it than to end it with a sermon about Heaven: The Blessed home of the redeemed. There is a blessed home waiting on the children of God that is far better than anything we have done on earth. This day let us join John the Revelator as he records the sights and sounds of that blessed place we call heaven.  Let us hear what the Bible teaches about this place where all of those who are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ will spend eternity. Let us have a look at a place called heaven:-

  1. HEAVEN IS A GENUINE PLACE (Revelation 21:1-3)
  2. A real place: Heaven is as real as the place you are right now. The Bible teaches that there are three heavens!
  • First, there is the Terrestrial heaven.

This refers to the atmosphere of the earth and the air above us. The Terrestrial Heaven is where birds fly and aero planes fly.

  • Secondly, there is the Tellestial Heaven.

This is where the stars, the moon and the planets are.

  • Third, there is the Celestial heaven.

This is the place where God lives. This is the place where all the saints of God dream about. This is the place we long to be. This is the place we call home!!

  • Heaven is a real place! Paul was taken there.
  • In 2 Corinthians 12:2-4, the Apostle Paul saw things, and heard things that cannot be told and no man can utter.
  • Apostle John was taken there in his vision-Revelation 4:1-5, 14.
  • Heaven is as real as Nairobi, Dar, Kampala, London, Newyork, Tokyo or Lusaka.
  • Heaven is a real place where a real God lives.
  • This real heaven with a real God will be joined one day by those who are really saved. Heaven is a real place.
  1. A resting place: Hebrews 4:3-11
  • The Bible tells us that we are “Pilgrims and strangers” in this world right now.
  • The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:13-16 when we enter the gates of that City, we will have laid down the burdens of this existence and gone to a place of peace and rest, a perfect place where burdens cannot follow and troubles cannot come.
  • When we get there, we will be home! It is a place to rest from our labor, our cares, our worries, our trials, everything that hindered us here will not be welcome over there.
  • We will rest when we get home.
  1. A Residing place:
  • Heaven is a place where some beings make their homes.
  • The Angels live in heaven, Angelic hosts live there.
  • God the Father dwells in heaven-Psalms 11:4; Rev. 4:1-5; 16.
  • The redeemed of all ages will live there, in heaven with the Lord God.
  • Jesus Christ gave us a precious and glorious promise.
  • Jesus Christ talks about going to prepare a place for us.
  • Jesus Christ talked about mansions in His Father’s house-John 14:1-3.
  • When we arrive there, we will be home in a mansion prepared just for us by the precious Lord Jesus Christ.
  • When we arrive there, we will forever be home!!
  • Heaven is a genuine place.
  1. HEAVEN IS A GLORIOUS PLACE (Revelation 21:1-7; 9-26)
  2. Heaven is Glorious in its beauty.
  • Never has there been a city described like this city.
  • The Apostle Paul was right when he said “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor hear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him” 1 Cor. 2:9
  • It is absolutely difficult to describe the city of God in all its glory, but let us just mention three things:
  1. Its creation-In Rev. 21:5, God says “I make”. This city is built by God Himself.
  • God created it, He formed it, He furnished it.
  • It is a city that bears the stamps and seal of His power and personality.
  • God has built a city that reflects His glory.
  • The beauty, the glory, the wealth and lavishness of this city are only limited by those aspects of God Himself.
  • Since God is not limited by anything, the city He has built is unlimited!!
  • You see when we build as humans; we are limited by time, space, materials, money, strength and even ideas.
  • The city of God is unlimited, it is glorious than the mind can comprehend!!
  1. Its Duration:
  • All the cities of this earth crumble and decay.
  • Every building made by the hand of man must constantly be renovated and repaired.
  • Heaven has a city that will never crumble or decay-1 Peter 1:4.
  • Heaven will never need paint, carpet, repair it will not need dusting, mopping or vacuuming.
  • Heaven will never be turned to a slum like Kibera, Mathare and Korogocho in Nairobi.
  • Heaven will never be bulldozed to make way for a mall or new roads.
  • Heaven will stand forever, perfect and I will b there by the grace of God-Eph. 2:7
  1. Its Examination:
  2. It’s size (Rev. 21:15-17)
  • The city of heaven is 1,500 miles square (2,400 sq. kilometers)
  • Heaven is either a cube or a pyramid or a sphere.
  • Its diameter is longer than the moon.
  • It’s like from Nairobi to Cape Town in length.
  • The wall of the city stands approximately 216 ft tall, it is jasper everywhere.
  1. The wall is clear jasper (Vs. 18).
  2. The city is pure gold, pure gold is transparent.
  3. The foundations are clear jasper, sapphire-clear blue.
  • Chalcedony-Yellowish green.
  • Emerald-Deep green.
  • Sardonyx-white with layers of red.
  • Sardius-fiery red.
  • Chrysolyte-Golden yellow.
  • Beryl-Sea green.
  • Topaz-greenish yellow.
  • Chrysopasus-golden green.
  • Jacinth-violet.
  • Amethyst-purple.
  1. The gates-(Vs. 21)-Gigantic pearls.
  2. The street-Transparent gold-only the street!
  • The city of God is far more glorious than anything the human mind can comprehend-You need to go there and see it for yourself!!
  1. Glorious in its Blessings.
  2. The presence of God (Rev. 21:3, 22)
  • When we get to heaven, we are going to see God Himself. Today we are separated from Him by this body of flesh that we wear.
  • One day we will stand before Him in glorified bodies.
  1. The promise of God-(Rev. 21:4-5)
  • The Bible says, all the things that hinder and ruin life here will not be allowed into that place.
  • There will be no tears, no regrets and worries in heaven.
  • HEAVEN IS A GUARDED PLACE (Rev. 21:4-27)
  1. Heaven is guarded for the saved (1 Peter 1:4)
  • Heaven is an exclusive place! It has been created for select group of individuals. The entry into heaven is through Jesus Christ alone-John 10:9, John 14:6.
  • The only way to enter heaven is through faith in Him- You must be born again-John 3:3-7.
  • You must trust Jesus Christ alone to save your soul.
  • Religion will not work, inter-faith will not work, ecumenism will not work, Mary will not work, Angels will not work, and the Saints will not work.
  • The only thing that will save you is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ-Acts 16:31.
  • Are you truly saved today? If you died today will you be granted access into heaven?
  1. Heaven is guarded from sorrow.
  • Nothing from this world will enter there.
  1. There will be no more sea (Vs. 1) no division and separation.
  2. There will be no more sadness-no tears (Vs. 4).
  3. There will be no more sleep-no death (Vs. 4).
  4. There will be no more sorrow-No suffering (Vs. 4).
  5. There will be no more temples, church buildings, nothing more for the government to close!! (Vs. 22)
  6. There will be no more sun, no sundown- no light (Vs. 23/25)
  7. There will be no more curses there!! (Rev. 22:3)
  8. Hallelujah, glory, Maranatha! That is the place I want to go! How about you? my friend.
  9. Heaven is guarded from sin-Rev. 21:8; 27
  • There will be no sin in heaven-we will be free from wickedness and wretchedness.
  • We will be free from the devil, temptations and all sin.
  • There will be no sinners in heaven! There will not be one single person who has denied the Lord Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
  • Heaven would become hell if just one sinner were allowed inside!!
  • God has pledged to protect that city from all wickedness and sin!

CONCLUSION

  • Where will you be when you die?
  • Will you go to heaven with all of its glories, or will you go to hell?
  • Now that God is speaking to you, I beg you to come to Jesus Christ. Don’t wait, don’t hesitate.
  • Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell, it depends on you. My prayer for you is that you come now to Jesus Christ.
