SERIES: EXODUS- SAVED TO SERVE WATCH HERE!!
TEXT: EXODUS 6:1-8.
Israel had been in Egypt for 400 years. They entered Egypt in favor and courtesy of Joseph-Jacob. But the winds of change and adversity began to blow and Israel found themselves slaves to the Egyptians under their cruel taskmasters they endured intense suffering and affliction. In their trouble, the people cried out to God-Exodus 2:23-25. God tells them “I have seen, I have heard, I know. I have come down to deliver you.” God raised up an unlikely deliverer. God sent Moses, an 80 year old fugitive from the law to lead Israel out of Egypt.
Moses arrives in Egypt and confronts Pharaoh. He demands the release of the people of God. In Exodus 5:1-5, Pharaoh refuses and actually doubts the burden on the people-5:6-23. Israel is burdened to the point of breaking. They turned to Moses and Moses turns to God.
May be today you are burdened in your life. Things are not working. If you are burdened, there is hope for your weary heart. God cares about all you face in life. He can see, He hears, He knows, He is willing to come down to you. If you are willing to free from your burdens you will get the help you need today because God cares and He is able, unlike people, “people who care are not able,” and “people who are able don’t care; but our God cares and He is able to do.” Let us learn:-
GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR FRUSTRATION-6:6.
Israel is under both burden and bondage.
- He cares about your burden; burdens are those things that trouble us; Our worries, concerns, our problems, we all have burdens.
- He cares about your bondage. Bondages are those things that controls us whether it is people, substances, sins or attitudes-1st Peter 5:7.
- God cares about you and all the things that burden you and bind you in your life.
- God cares about what affects you-Heb. 4:15-16.
- Learn to cast your cares on Him-Phil. 4:6-7.
- God lifts our burdens-Matt. 11:28.
- God breaks your bonds-John 8:36.
GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR FREEDOM-6:6.
- God promises Israel that He will bring them out and redeem them.
- He redeemed Israel with the blood of the lamb-Exo. 12.
- He delivered us with the blood of His dear son-Heb. 10:10-14.
He delivers you from your sins.
- Our greatest problem is our sin problem.
- The problem of sin is solved in Jesus Christ. Faith in Him provides perfect, eternal cleansing from our sin-Col. 2:13-14; 1st John 1:7.
- God gives us power over the besetting sins that hinders our walk day by day-Rom. 6:11-18.
He delivers you from your slavery to sin.
- We can be a slave to sin, but other things can enslave us too.
- Our burdens can enslave us, but Jesus knows how to deliver you from the things that would hold us captive.
GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR FELLOWSHIP-6:7.
- God saves us, so we can have fellowship with Him.
- God would use the afflictions Israel faced to bring them closer to Him.
- They would see His power, experience, His peace and know His presence. He uses our trials to draw us closer to Him.
He provides personal fellowship.
- God desires intimacy with His people.
- The trials of life are designed to drive us into His arms.
- God doesn’t want to hurt you, but He is trying to develop you.
- Great faith is shaped on the anvil of affliction.
He provides powerful fellowship.
- God would leave no doubt in their minds that He was their God.
- God works on your behalf, through His great miracles we see His power.
GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR FUTURE.
- God’s promises to Israel were not limited to their deliverance from Egypt. He made them promises regarding their future.
- God after saving us has also given us many precious promises concerning our futures as well.
He has promised your future.
- His promise to Israel-Deut. 6:23.
- He brought us out so that He bring us in-Eph. 2:1-10.
He has prepared your future.
- God promises the land of Israel to the patriarchs.
- God has promised you and me a prepared place called heaven-John 14:1-3; Rev. 21:1-22:5.
He has preserved your future
- Even when the Canaanites lived in the land it belonged to Israel.
- When they arrived, they would take possession of all the Lord had prepared for them.
- There are no Canaanites in heaven, but the land of heaven is preserved for those who love God-1st Peter 1:4; Matt. 6:19-20.
CONCLUSION
- God cares about you today. God will move in power, reveal His person, keep His promise for you and me.
- Are there some things that burden you down? Cast them to Jesus now.
- Are there things that bind you? Look to the Lord, He will set you free now.
- Cast your burden on the Lord, Just now.
