SERIES: BREAKTHROUGH FOR 2023 WATCH HERE!!
TEXT: 2ND CORINTHIANS 10:3-4; PSALM 69
In 2023 we are looking for spiritual breakthrough in our lives, families, church, and country. To get the desired breakthrough in our lives we need to have a vision from the Lord to see into the spiritual Realm and how to use His weapons which bring breakthrough. Let us believe that breakthrough is possible, that miracles are possible. We need to give up our negative thoughts, mindsets and beliefs. The opposite of breakthrough is breakdown. Let us learn:-
DAVID’S SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH CAME FROM SEEKING DIRECTION FROM HE LORD EVEN AFTER HE HAD A BREAKDOWN- 1st27:1-4
- In our scenario David had a spiritual breakdown.
- Fear overran his faith. He ran to his enemy for protection rather than God.
- This was not the first time David had a breakdown- 1st25:11-15.
- Breakdown happens to the best of God’s people- David was a man after God’s own heart.
- Despite being a man of God, David had a spiritual breakdown.
- But David came back to God and gained his spiritual senses again.
- Psalm 69 describes David’s life at this point in time. David was pleading for God’s deliverance.
- Peter quoted this Psalm in Acts 1:20 and Apostle Paul quoted this Psalm in Romans 11:9.
- When David became King his enemies increased- 2nd5:6-10.
- God gave David breakthrough over the Philistines- 2nd17-25. God of the “Breakthrough” is described as “Baal-Perazim”.
- This story of David and his breakthrough against fear and his enemies, by connecting with the Lord.
- You are going to get your breakthrough today.
- Don’t run to your enemies for protection.
- Instead enquire of the Lord how to attack your enemy or stand firm on the faith so the breakthrough comes.
- God is the God of breakthrough in your life.
THE LAME MAN RECEIVED HIS BREAKTHROUGH- Mark 2:1-12
- In order to get your breakthrough spiritually, you must become desperate for it.
- The second key to a spiritual breakthrough is “God to Jesus.”
- Don’t stand there looking at your problem and the barriers that separate us from God.
- How desperate are you for a breakthrough?
- Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity.
JOB RECEIVED HIS BREAKTHROUGH- Job 23:12
- We have a choice to make like job. Either we are going to believe God is for us or He is against us. One brings a breakdown the other brings a breakthrough.
- Prayer and fasting are spiritual discipline, prayer and fasting are beneficial for us.
- Job practiced it in the midst of his trauma and tragedy.
- Job lost his business, his children, his security and his health.
- Jesus placed fasting and prayer at the same level as financial stewardship and prayer.
- Every major character in the Bible fasted for spiritual breakthrough.
Job, Samuel, Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah. Jesus, Paul, James, John. There is time for fasting- Matt. 9:15.
- Prayer and fasting will give you protection over enemies, freedom from bondage of sin. Victory over temptations, healing, deliverance from evil spirits etc.
CONCLUSION
- We get spiritual breakthrough by:-
- Inquiring of the Lord and seeking His direction, wisdom, insight and then listening to His instructions.
- Never run to your enemies for protection.
- Get desperate for spiritual breakthroughs with the help of the Lord.
- Breakdowns can lead to spiritual breakthroughs.
- We need God’s intervention.
- The third key for spiritual breakthrough is fasting combined with prayer.
- You can fast.
- Social media and internet.
- Food, tea or coffee, TV, sports. Friends.
