THE ARROW OF THE ALMIGHTY

ISAIAH 49

INTRODUCTION

Isaiah 49 speaks of Jesus Christ the servant of the Lord. It discusses the nature and the mission of our saviour. He was the Arrow of the Almighty God. An arrow has to be made. As Christians and disciples of Jesus Christ, we did not make ourselves. To become His arrow we must be cut off from the vanities of life and the world of our forefathers, gain a new identity in Christ. Peter said to Jesus “we have laid everything aside and followed you”. They had become Arrows. Carnality and worldliness would prevent us from being effective Arrows. God made Jesus Christ an arrow.

Let us learn:-

I.  THE PROCESS OF BECOMING AN ARROW (49:1-3)

  • Once the material for an arrow has been obtained it has to be shaped.
  • Be ready for certain things to be cut off your life.
  • Your worldly old friends must go, your new lifestyle is uncomfortable to associate with
  • You cannot be an arrow of the Almighty and you still keep concubines and a demonic timetable for fornication. You are a candidate for hellfire!
  • If you abandon your wife claiming she is old and you keep a young lady in an apartment somewhere both of you are going to hell.
  • Keeping boyfriends, girlfriends, sugar daddies and sugar mummies and thinking you have a breakthrough- leads to hell.
  • Eating the wages of sin- when you must lie for your employer leads to hellfire. The way is really narrow, my friend.
  • Disposable preachers make noise for short while, real ministers do not entangle themselves with the affairs of this life.
  • An arrow needs to be pointed- our sharpness is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
  • The anointing of the Holy Spirit will sharpen your point to penetrate and devastate the kingdom of Satan.
  • An arrow has a quiver also, we must remain in the quiver, wait, listen and gather God’s instruction for use.
  • Two things can kill an arrow of God- sin and destiny changer.
  • A destiny is the purpose of God for your life. God has a purpose for everything. There is a purpose for the sun, moon and the stars. Everybody has a divine destiny.
  • Samson’s destiny was changed, Demas, Gehazi etc.
  • There are destiny destroyers and paralyzers in the world.

II.  NEVER FORSAKEN OR FORGOTTEN (49:13-18)

  • This passage reminds us that God’s people are unforgettable to Him.
  1. God’s immutability v.15
  • God’s compassion is greater than a mother’s love for her child.
  • Mother’s love can fail, abortion and child trafficking happen all the time.
  • God’s love is eternal, perfect, unconditional (Eph.3:18-19)
  1. God’s incarnation (v.16) He has graven us upon the palms of His hands.
  2. God’s providence (V.16) “Thy walls are continually before me”. God is a watchman. The promises of God are forever (Rom.4:20-21)
  • His presence is real (Heb.13:5) His power (Phil.4:13)
  • His purpose (Job.23:10) to refine us. He takes care of you.
  1. God’s prophetic truth (V.17-18)
  • God has a wonderful plan for Israel and the church.
  • Our saviour is coming again for His church (I Thess. 4:16-18)
  • When things look bleak and dark, just remember who God is.

III.  NO REINFORCED CAPTIVITY (49:23-26)

  • To reinforce something is to strengthen it, so when we talk of reinforced captivity we talk of a situation whereby captivity is being strengthened.
  • Captivity can be imprisoned and there are several ways how this plays out in real life;
  1. Witchcraft covens are known to reinforce spells on those they have already made captive.
  2. Those who curse or place embargo and notice that the one they cursed is being set free and things are easing up for that individual may make a new set of curses to put the unsuspecting victim back into stress and hardship.
  3. When someone who is sick in the body by reason of arrows of wickedness is finally fighting it with the word, prayer and fasting, the sickness begins to wear away, but those who have caused the sickness with voodoo spells, they strengthen the ritual or the altar.
  • The aim of the wicked is to ensure that the one in captivity and suffering never comes out of it.
  • This happens usually because there is a door of affliction open through which the evil projections find their way into the life and existence of the victim being attacked.
  • These doors are caused by sin and negative actions like unforgiveness and bitterness on the part of the victim.
  • Israel will be restored (Isa.49:23-25)

CONCLUSION- PRAYER POINTS

  1. Lord, have mercy upon me and release me from every reinforced captivity in Jesus Name.
  2. Father, hold every reinforced captivity captive for my sake, in Jesus Name.
  3. Free me finally from witchcraft resistance and captivity in Jesus Name.
  4. Any legality or rights that the enemy has to reinforce against me, Lord cease it from them and set me free in Jesus Name.
  5. Father, turn me into a ball of fire that cannot be reinforced against in Jesus Name.
