Wednesday Sermon

THE LAST DAY CHURCH SHOULD BE A KINGDOM REVEALING CHURCH

SERIES: THESE ARE THE DAYS OF ELIJAH

TEXT: 1st KINGS 17:7-24; EPHESIANS 6:18

Jesus Christ said, “The kingdom of God is at hand. To have a kingdom you must have a king. Elijah lived in faith of that kingdom that Jesus promised. He lived in recognizing and trusting in the supernatural rather than the natural. Elijah is a true picture of the last day church-1st Kings 17:7-24.

Every country has an immigration system and travel policy. To go to most countries you need a passport. When travelling if you get into trouble, that passport gives you certain rights at your country’s embassy. At the embassy will be an Ambassador, who represents his country. The ambassador has diplomatic privileges and the embassy is deemed to be a part of that country’s soil even though it is a foreign country. It is the same in God’s kingdom. We are ambassadors and His representatives, we should reveal the customs and culture of God and heaven.

Elijah had visited the court of King Ahab. He had spoken on behalf of God. He came from obscurity and in Ahab’s court he declared war.

Now Elijah had gone through wilderness school of advanced learning. He had learned communion, he had drank from a spiritual rock and fed on manna. He had his flesh cut off at Kerith (cherith). Cherith means to cut off. It was time to move on.

Timing is always an issue with us. When to move, where to move-Eccl. 3:1-11. Time is a period allotted for a specific purpose. God has put eternity in our hearts.

God knows the beginning from the end, but in the natural world we function in time periods.  At Zeraphath Elijah’s faith was tested. The natural was going to be transformed by the supernatural. Zeraphath was a place where the impossible became possible.

At Cherith Elijah was fed by ravens twice a day, water was constant. Remember even today God’s ravens still fly!! Miraculous provision is still God’s preserve.

Zeraphath is from Hebrew and it means “The smelting or refining place, in other words the refining fire of God!! At Zeraphath he would find:-

ZERAPHATH-WHERE THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE.

  • Zeraphath was the city and hometown of Jezebel.
  • Zeraphath is the very town where the one hunting for Elijah comes from!!
  • When God hides you no one can find you.
  • Your enemy can’t find you, but promotion can find you.
  • Your distractions can’t find you, your friends can’t find you.
  • While there Elijah meets and stays with the widow and she brings him drink and meal.
  • You cannot bring revival to someone until you first experience revival yourself.
  • Elijah could produce revival because he had it.
  • Too many of us are trying to get everyone else revived when we haven’t been revived.
  • In the course of the 3 years the widow’s only son died!!
  • Elijah lay on top of the dead boy three times until the boy revived. Revival came into the widow’s house. It was life for life impartation.
  • Why this particular widow? There were many widows in Sidon-obedience and desperation.
  • Elijah learned many lessons in Zeraphath.
  1. What you make happen for others God will make happen to, for you.
  • The woman needed provision but made provision for Elijah first.
  • Some of us need something in our life, so you must make it happen in someone else’s life first.
  • If you want your dream to come to pass, first make that dream come to pass in someone’s life first.
  1. Provision can find you rather than you finding provision.
  • When you are obedient to God, provision will overtake you.
  • The righteous are never forsaken or begging for bread.
  1. Never put God in a box, you will find yourself in a dry place.
  • Just because water came out of the brook of cherish for a period or season does not mean God will always produce nourishment there.
  • Stay at Cherith until God says move to Zeraphath.
  • God’s ways never change, but His means do change.
  • Move with God, remain flexible, remain mobile-never remain in a dry Cherith, don’t put God into a box.
  1. God never shows up as a reviving fire until He first reveals Himself as a refining fire.
  • Zeraphath is a dwelling place not a one right stint.
  • Before we are made righteous we must meet God as a refiner’s fire and a fuller’s soap.
  • Refining is defined as “reduce to a pure state.” The process of refining takes time. Strongholds must come down, walls must be broken, pet sins must be destroyed.
  • The reason many of us never experience revival is because we don’t stay in the fire long enough to be refined. The heat has to be turned on and up.
  • Ask Joseph or David about dwelling in Zeraphath, between the time of Joseph’s dreams until the time of walking into the palace it was 12 years of pits, prison and pain. For David between anointing by Samuel as King 20 years keeping sheep, singing for a mad man, running to Gath to the cave of Adullam refining is a long process, then comes revival.
  • Go to Zeraphath and dwell there-learn to dwell in the refining place. For Elijah Zeraphath was 3 years.
  • The route to revival goes through Zeraphath a dwelling station until refining is complete.

A WIDOW.

  • A widow represents the least likely person.
  • A widow represents limited supply. Supply nearly running out.
  • There was death of a son-representing a promise now dead, a dead hope-miracles will occur.
  • We cannot avoid the process of promise, then preparation, then power.
  • The Elijah church needs to walk in the supernatural power of God.

TO SUMMARIZE.

  1. Heaven is a way of thinking.
  2. Heaven can be a present experience.
  3. Heaven is a literal place.
  • That bring us to the reality of the supernatural realm-Eph. 6:12; 2nd 10:3; Col. 3:2; Rev. 1:10.
  • We exist in the natural! But need to have a supernatural worldview.
  • The devil offers a counterfeit kingdom-Exodus 17.
  • When we get a perspective of the supernatural realm it directly deal with life’s issues.
  1. Who is on control? Which brings emotional stability.
  2. What is God doing? This gives us direction and purpose.
  3. What I need to pray about; which brings solution.
  4. Insight; I see what is really going on here-2nd Corinthians 4:18.
  • How do we enter this spiritual realm?
  1. Be open-Be sensitive through deepening our relationship with God.
  2. Transform our minds to God’s word.
  • Elijah learnt to walk in the supernatural for he was walking in obedience to God.
  • Remember as in Elijah’s life is a process-Mark 16:17-18.

CONCLUSION

  • God heard the voice of Elijah because Elijah heard God-1st Kings 17:22.
  • God heard a mother because a mother heard the preacher and God’s word.
  • These are the days of Elijah. Days of miracles and God’s power. Miracles for you, your family and your church.
