SERIES: DRAWING NEAR TO GOD
TEXT: LAMENTATIONS 3:37
It reminds believers that God’s word alone stands supreme above all voices.Our message today exposes the vanity of human boasting and the futility of satanic pronouncements when God has not commanded them.
“Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass when the Lord commandeth not?”
There are seasons in life when the enemy raises his voice against God’s children. Men, institutions, occult powers and even circumstances may rise to speak words of intimidation, fear and destruction.
The scripture asks a profound question “Who is he that saith and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?”-(Lamentations 3:37)
Many strong men in history have attempted to challenge the authority of God, but their words backfired on them.
Pharaoh, Sennacherib, Nebuchadnezzar, Goliath and Herod all made proud statements against God and His people, but they were humbled.
Likewise today, no incantation, curse, decree or evil utterance against a child of God shall stand.
This message reminds us that man is but dust and ashes.
The arm of flesh will fail, but the word of God is eternal and unshakable.
My dear friends, the only voice that matters in your destiny is the voice of God.
Let us learn:-
NO MAN CAN OVERRULE THE VOICE OF GOD.
1. The word of God is supreme.
• God’s word is final and cannot be altered by man-(Isa. 55:11)
2. Man is dust and ashes-(Gen. 3:19).
• Man returns to dust, only God’s decree stands forever.
3. The arm of flesh will fail.
• Human effort is limited, divine authority is unlimited-(Jer. 17:5).
4. Every other voice must bow.
• At the name of Jesus Christ every knee must bow-(Phil. 2:10-11).
• David and Goliath (1st Samuel 17:8-11). David was not impressed by Goliath’s boasting but trusted the word of the Lord.
THE FOLLY OF CHALLENGING THE UNCHALLENGEABLE.
1. Pharaoh was a very arrogant man.
• In (Exodus 5:2), He said, “Who is the Lord?”
• But later he bowed down in defeat.
2. Sennacherib’s pride.
• In (Isa. 36:18-21), He mocked God but was destroyed by the Angel of the Lord.
3. Nebuchadnezzar’s threats.
• In (Dan 3:15) He asked “who is that God that shall deliver you?”
• Yet the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered by fire.
4. Herod’s blasphemy (Acts 12:21-33)
• He accepted divine glory and was smitten with worms.
• Each of these rulers spoke against God but their end was destruction proving that no one can challenge the Almighty and prevail.
THE SUPERIORITY OF DIVINE DECREE OVER HUMAN PRONOUNCEMENTS.
1. God’s decree cannot be cancelled.
• Whatever God says must stand-(Numbers 23:19-20)
• Satanic pronouncements are powerless, no enchantments or divinations can prosper against God’s people-(Numbers 23:23).
2. Experts can be overruled.
• Medical doctors, lawyers, scientists may speak but God has the final say-(Prov. 21:30)
3. Heaven’s verdict overrules the earth.
• God frustrates the counsel of the crafty-(Job 5:12).
THE FAITH RESPONSE TO EVIL PRONOUNCEMENTS
1. Reject and cancel negative decrees.
• Condemn every tongue that rises against you-(Isa 54:17).
2. Declare God’s word boldly.
• Use the scripture as your weapon-(Eph. 6:17).
3. Refuse to remain in bondage.
• Decide to break free from oppression-(Esther 4:16).
4. Turn the battle over to God.
• Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord-(Exodus 14:13-14).
• Esther’s boldness “if I perish I perish”-(Esther 4:16).
• Her courage overruled the enemy’s decree.
JESUS-THE UNCHALLENGEABLE POWER.
1. All power belongs to Him-(Matt 28:18).
• All authority in heaven and in earth belongs to Jesus.
2. His Name is above every name.
• Phil 2:9- At the Name of Jesus every knee bows.
3. No power has ever challenged and silenced the Gospel.
• Attempts to destroy Christianity always fail-(Matt 16:18).
• Jesus Christ is power personified.
• Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever-(Heb. 13:8).
• There used to be a French scientist and atheist called Voltaire.
• He boasted that he would devote all his life and energy to the destruction of every Bible in France. He died and printing press was invented, a Christian press bought his house and Bibles were printed in that house.
CONCLUSION
• Dear friends, no matter what pronouncements, incantation, curse or decree is spoken against you it cannot stand unless the Lord has commanded it.
• Human boasting collapses before divine authority.
• The only words that matters in your destiny are the words God has spoken.
• Therefore rise in Faith, declare the word of the Lord and watch every enemy of your destiny be silenced.
