WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED

ISAIAH 53:4-5, PSALM 103:3

INTRODUCTION

The above passage is in the past tense because it is a settled case. God wants to touch you and heal you everywhere you are hurting. It is the will of God to heal. Some years ago, a certain man was celebrating his 60th birthday. People brought cakes, flowers, cards and many gifts. He was a multi-millionaire, but he was on a wheelchair. The people gathered around him to sing a song wishing him a happy birthday. They asked him for a birthday wish. The man said “what good is it to be rich if I am going to be forever on this wheelchair?” many people are in sorry state health-wise. Money cannot buy you health, it may buy you drugs but cannot buy the medicine from above. Money can buy you a good bed, but it cannot buy sleep, it can buy you food but not appetite. There are more sick people in the world today than ever before in history. There are more doctors, more medicine, more hospitals yet more people are sick. Even in the developed world people are sick. Even the rich have diseases of the rich, heart, kidney, mental, liver, overweight, cancer etc. poor people have poor people diseases, diarrhoea, constipation, pneumonia, scabies, sti, std, typhoid, amoeba. Fat people have fat people diseases and thin people have thin people diseases, educated and non-educated etc.

The only way out is through God’s word which is filled with healing from cover to cover (Exodus 15:26, Psalm 105:37, Isaiah 58:6, Prov. 4:20-22). One out of every 7 verses in the gospel talks about healing (Acts 10:38, Matt.8:16;9:35; 12:15). The bible is a healing book, healing prayers are both preventive and curative.

Let us learn:-

I.  IT IS GOD’S WILL TO HEAL.

  • Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. By His stripes (Scars) we were healed (v.3-4)
  • We were healed in the past, but we must claim the healing that Christ purchased for us.

II.  PRACTICAL FAITH IS ESSENTIAL FOR HEALING.

  • If we can only believe all things are possible (Mark 9:18-24)
  • There is always a struggle between positive faith and negative faith. Between beliefs and unbelief.
  • Everyone has faith, but it is a matter of positive or negative faith.
  • Faith is like a gear. It can either be forward or reverse.
  • Faith is trusting that God will do what He has promised to do.
  • Negative faith is indicated by:
  1. Doubt– doubt is negative, cruel and destructive.
  • A doubter blames God for troubles in life
  • It was Noah that build the ark, but it was God who flooded the earth.
  • It was Moses that stretched out the rod, but it was God that parted the waters.
  • It was the people who matched around Jericho, but it was God who brought the walls of Jericho down.
  • It was Elijah that smote the water, it was God that parted the waters.
  • It was Naaman that dipped himself seven times, it was God who removed the leprosy.
  • We must stretch out the hand of faith to touch the hand of God.
  1. Fear- Fear is a forerunner of calamity, the creator of bad things.
  • Fear brings captivity, confusion, frustration, inner conflict, tension and defeat.
  • Fear is negative faith and it is the favourite weapon of the enemy.

III.   HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR FAITH TODAY.

  1. See yourself the way God sees you.
  • The Apostle Paul said “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil.4:13)
  • God does not want to see you hospitalized, infirmities, diseases, but healed of all diseases.
  • God told Soul “ Though you are small in your own eyes, but I have exalted you to be the king of Israel, I made you king and blessed you”
  • See yourself the way God sees you
  1. Replace every fear with love, power and sound mind (2 Tim.1:7)
  • Replace every thought of sickness with thoughts of health
  • Replace every thought of death with thought of life.
  1. Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.
  2. Confess your healing with your own mouth
  3. Be obedient, do not rationalize or analyze His word- don’t seek for details or problem history (Luke 4:18-19)
  • Deal first with spiritual sickness, then physical healing will come.

IV.  GOD TREATS SIN AS A DISEASE

  • Sin is greater than a disease. It is a willful crime.
  • Sin is abnormal, disturbing and destructive, sin breaks the equilibrium of the life forces just like disease disturbs the bodily functions.
  • Sin weakens moral energy as disease weakens the body.
  • Sin either pains or deadens sensitivity as the case may be.
  • Sin is fatal, hereditary, universal, contagious, defiling, incurable and mortal.

V   GOD DECLARES THE REMEDY WHICH HE HAS PROVIDED.

  • Jesus Christ, God’s Son is the heavenly medicine.
  • The stripes (scars) of Jesus in body and soul, the healer himself was wounded and this is the means of our cure.
  • One remedy and only one is set forth by God.
  • You are either healed or sick- do you know your condition?
  • Why are you not healed? The remedy is ready for you now.
  • If you are healed, behave accordingly.
  1. Quit diseased community
  2. Do a healthy man’s work
  3. Praise the physician and His surgery.
  4. Publish abroad His praises, across the street and around the world.

PRAYER

  1. O Lord, let your hand of miracle, healing and deliverance be stretched out upon my life, in the Name of Jesus.
  2. O Lord, terminate the life of any sickness in my life in the Name of Jesus.
  3. Every spirit hindering my healing, fall down and die in the Name of Jesus.
  4. I command death upon all sickness, in the Name of Jesus.
  5. I receive my divine healing today, in Jesus Name.
